It sounds completely insane when the only reason he has to play 75 games is because we wouldn't sign a capable deputy. And we're doing the same thing to Erling.
We did sign a capable deputy who had single-handedly ran MF and back line for Bielsa, who had been a standard England player and who turned into a jelly-bean the first time Pep set his eyes upon him. It is what it is!

Basically Bielsa saw Kalvin had a cracking 30 yard switch in his locker and devised a system around that in order to meta game the Championship. If we bought him expecting to recreate the Leeds setup from the promotion campaign then I don't know what we were thinking.

I did think he looked good for England before we bought him though. I think the shoulder injury robbed him of his physicality and without it he's just a slow average player who has a decent pass under little pressure.

Spot on. We can complain about the schedule all we want and that's a separate issue, but in what world did we think that overplaying Rodri is going to end any different? We have played him non-stop, completely ignoring this issue for about 2 years. Not buying anyone to help out in this position is on us, not anybody else. The same thing is going to happen to Erling too, like you said, and that will be on us as well.

Based on recent form without him it looks like Rodri has been carrying the team on his back.

The difference between us before and after his injury proves beyond doubt that he absolutely deserved the Ballon D'Or.

I'd love to see the win/loss %ages with and without Rodri updated to now, the difference in the will be even more pronounced than they already were.

we gambled with his fitness for years to be fair. and as in gambling sometimes you win against the odds, sometimes you lose big if you cant stop.

Apparently he's ahead of schedule but I really hope he's not rushed back.
Shouldn't make an appearance at all this season or at the CWC honestly. Even at the start of next season, he needs to be reintroduced cautiously with how knee injuries can compound.

Being ahead of schedule simply means he gets to his strengthening phase of rehab earlier and gets longer at it, not that we'll get him back any earlier. Being able to walk and subsequently run, isn't a major problem with these injuries, the problem lies with twists and turns, especially sudden ones, that's the danger.

we won't be seeing him this season. I could see a scenario where he is potentially part of the club world cup squad if he's on track and no setbacks but purely to be there with the group again, get back into the rhythm and train, not to participate.
