Always nervous before important games in the Champions League. Mainly because of Ederson and his very average ability in terms of stopping shots and 1 vs 1. I think, if we want to win CL in the future, we have to think about a new goalkeeper. I love Ederson, he is an exciting keeper, but he will not help us to win this trophy. Never was a hero because of stopping shots, because he rarely has the opportunity to make an important save. But we have has to do it, he is not helping us, unfortunately :(

I genuinely 100% believe that if Ederson broke his leg in mid-September and we had to play a season without him, that's the only way people would start to understand how fucked we would be without a 'keeper as good as him at passing.

Which puts us in a really awkward position because he won't be around forever and it's very hard to just convert an academy goalkeeper into an Ederson-level player. They don't grow on trees, put it that way. We're basically hoping one pops up in South America somewhere before Ederson gets too old.

A few goals a season where we go "yeah maybe Alisson would've saved that" is nothing compared to how pissed you lot would be if you were watching Alisson or Ramsdale pass to the opposition in the final third every single match.
Of course, he is important and crucial in terms of the whole season, especially during the league, but he is not helping us in the critical moments during the Champions League. His lack of communication, leadership, stupid ideas when the pressure is high, and average ability to stop 1 vs 1 or tough shots is not helping us.

It is entirely possible he is just having a down year. Look at Oblak, his stats have dropped through the floor but Atletico wouldn't replace him and if he was on the market I am sure he would have suitors.

Fck knows why plenty on here are still living in the 90s and are solely basing a goalkeeper off how many saves he makes, literally the number of them never mind the quality of them.

Alisson is bobbins, he can barely pass the ball past 10yrds and frequently lets in what some on here would call an easy save.

Alisson is also badly bullied by physical teams.

People need to have a look at our defensive record. Non of our defenders are particularly dominant in the air. Nor that big. Laporte, Stones she Dias are competent in the air, but not particularly big. Rodri is very good. Yet we have exceptional set piece defensive record. Much if that is on Ederson, he’s rare these days as he’s not rooted to his line. He attacks everything.

But Liverpool is not losing goals so frequently in an important games during Champions League like us :(

We aren't that small when it comes to defenders; both Rodri and Laporte are 6'3" Dias, Ederson and Stones are (6'2"). Scratch that van Dijk is taller (6'4"). But there are all still good in the air.

De Gea is 31 so no I wouldn't swap a younger keeper for an older one but he has been a better keeper than Ederson this year in terms of stopping the ball going in the net. Without him the rags would have finished bottom half not in Europe.
Yep, De Gea has let in 57. Ederson 28. Miles better.

Such insightful analysis there. Let’s just ignore De Gea has faced 100 more shots, plays in a shit team and has an Easter island head posing as a centre back in front of him. Yep he’s let in more goals so Ederson is better…

Life comes back at you...

In terms of shot stopping? About a dozen in the PL alone. In terms of also being able to use his feet and save shots then just Alisson in the PL.
His shot stopping hasn't been as good recently but to say there are around 12 other keepers better at that is just crazy. There's been many times when he's saved us in one on one situations.
As for Allison how man times as he fucked up playing out from the back.
I wouldn't swap Ederson for anyone.

The only keeper I would have swapped Ederson for at the start of the season was Steffen but then he had some screw ups to feck tgat theory up.

But the point is that having a second keeper with different strengths could allow us to play horses for courses. For example when we are against a team that we truly are scared shirtless of their striker we play the better shot stopper rather than the better all-rounder.

Maybe Bazuna is that or maybe Steffen with more games under his belt.

I wouldn't want to sell Ederson but I'd like to strengthen our GKing.

No, it says I’m not full of blue bias. It also says it’s unlikely you watched many of Liverpool’s games this season.

You’re remembering one bad game that Alisson had against City in the season prior to the one just ended.

Alisson made more saves, had more touches, had a higher save percentage, completed more passes and had the same amount of unsuccessful short passes and virtually the same pass completion percentage. Opta also rated him substantially higher

That doesn’t mean I want Ederson to leave, it means that he can improve.

By the way, for context, neither get anywhere near the top 30 PL all time save percentages on record (Cezh at 90% in 2005 holes the record), and to make the top 30, a save percentage of 80% is needed.

Ederson shared the golden glove, although he made 60 saves (20th highest) in 38 games, compared with 148 for the Leeds keeper.

There are a great many better shot stoppers in the PL, none (or perhaps only one) of whom could do the job City require of their keepers.

Alisson passes to the opposition, no kidding, I'd say at least once every two games.
The facts absolutely disagree. See above. I watched every Liverpool game this season and he was very good, as he usually is. Which is why he has many more Brazil caps than Ederson.

You really want me to post the Ederson blooper reel? Can do that with every player though I’m not sure what it achieves.
