Uncomfortable conversations...

Phil is starting to show signs that he can play with KDB in there IMO as an 8. It won’t happen straight away but he has been far more discerning with how he uses the ball these past two few games. Slowing the pace down when necessary and quickening it when the time is right. That’s all Pep is looking for. He has everything else already to be a combo of Silva and KDB in that role.

Has he really, though...?

He was playing great last season and had a bad foot injury. He came back, was playing great again, and then had to have his appendix removed. He's had some poor games this season, but who doesn't? He's still had FAR more good games than poor ones. He's been our best player this season, in my eyes.

His progress definitely stalled for a year to 18 months but that’s normal, it was off the back of 3 or 4 years of constant improvement.

He just needs to keep doing what he’s doing now for as long as he can. Hes always had the talent, he’s made the step up in terms of responsibility, now he just needs to make it his default level.

Pep has managed fodens career to date with utter perfection and we are now seeing the fruits of it.
Held him back from being a regular starter til the time was tight, held him back from playing more central til the time was right.

Loveleh

Wrong. Pep was teaching him how to play all over the park . He can do the lot now. Genius

Well, not really. We can all see he's much better centrally. Most top players can do a good job in a few positions and have that versatility.

Really growing in to that role. Affecting games more and more now. Starting to look like the player we know he is.

interesting to see what happens when kevs back
He sits on the bench next to Haaland. The second game in a row Phil bossed the second half. And how on earth you leave Julian out!?!

I know he can. He's proven that. But you can never expect Foden to show his best if he's getting put in different positions all the time.
My point was that was part of the learning curb. Like initially keeping him on the bench when people were gasping for him to start. He will start more n more in a central position now .

I think peps managed his career perfectly

Superb again, and has been for the last few games.

He's shown his level and capability now, and it's pretty frightening if he can continue this level, with Erling, Kev and Jeremy due to return soon.

Love the guy. Almost every single touch he turned to go forward, absolutely has to play centrally for us from here on, it shouldn’t even be a debate.
