Having watched Arsenal at gome v Everton and away to a Napoli team who are much weaker than the team we faced, I have absolutely no idea how they are top of the premier league.

based on 2 games?

everton who played the best football against us then any team has this season and had just beaten utd, and napoli who are also a very good team at home in a game where we didn't need to take any risks.

how about the games where we've beaten the small teams convincingly that you've struggled against? funny how you don't use those games as a basis for argument....

Walcott was probably rested, because his pace is always a huge threat for teams. Not a good result for moral, before a huge game on the weekend. Naples is a tough place to go as you have found out in previous seasons. However, it means they are likely to have a very tough draw now. After the next two games would not be surprised to find Chelsea top as poor as they have been.

Well I hope he is fit to start against us.
Don't get me wrong, I expect you to win and win convincingly. Still considering how Muller has consistently gotten in behind your left backs, I don't think having someone like Walcott with Ozil/Wilshere supplying him through balls would be a something I would want. More so if you keep a high line.

maybe but he's no Jesus.

Not sure if Walcott was rested or if they just wanted to win tonight.

You reckon he doesn't track back then eh?

Replace Bayern with Dortmund and it's the same for you guys.

Have our resident Gooner pets been on tonight?

The final whistle came at 3:30 am my time, I went right to sleep. But it is only human nature, is it not, to be more eager to discuss something when your side is doing well rather when their having a hard time?

It's certainly not ideal just scraping through to qualification like that, but I don't think it'll hurt morale all that much. The team just weren't into the match at all, for which reason it was one of, if not the worst performance we've had all season. I think they were already half-thinking about this weekend.

Congratulations on beating Bayern, very impressive especially to claw back an early two goal lead like that. The confidence must be surging through your players' veins at the moment. It certainly did for us in March. The timing is perfect for you.

I've long since written off our chances on Saturday but I'm still starting to feel that twinge of excitement, whenever we play you guys it is exciting.

Like man united you mean?

oh right......

Can any of our resident gooners tell me how many fans you had in Naples last night?

I heard 700 on the radio last night, but was also told you had around 170 there by someone else.

If either figure is true, that's pathetic for a self-proclaimed 'huge' club.

Yes, plus the Utd game also.

Saying that someone had 'just beaten Utd' to add weight to your argument merely makes you look very silly. Napoli have failed to win 3 of their 8 Serie A home games this season. Hardly the stuff of a 'very good' home team.

We haven't 'struggled' against any premier league team this season. In every away game we lost we were clearly the better side.

my point was you looked at those 2 games and questioned how we are top, what i meant was why don't you look at the other games against weaker teams and you'll have your answer - we have generally beaten the weaker teams that we should beat, home or away it doesn't matter, whilst you haven't.

no good saying you were the better team and played the better football in those games you lost or drew, arsenal fans said the same thing for years as well. doesn't mean a thing, unless you win the game.

the reason why i mentioned utd is because whilst we may all take the piss out of them this season, they are still current champions and they still have good players, and winning at old trafford is still a big result thats respected across the league.

Everton beat utd which not only gave them loads of confidence before our game but also proved that they are playing really well. so it was very relevant to mention that.

napoli again regardless of recent results are still a very good team, with some very talented players such as higuin and playing them at their stadium was always going to be difficult especially as we were in a weird position where we didn't need to win the game and even loosing 1 or 2-0 would have sent us through.

the reason as i understand it is that the club actively encouraged supporters not to go there, due to the troubles away fans have had. its probably one of the most dangerous away grounds to go to, where away fans regularly seem to get stabbed or beaten. it was no different last night.

also a lot of fans had trouble even getting into the stadium.

There's always an excuse, isn't there?
