im normally in 115 at the back, singing with the usual lads. But for this game moved to back of the vacated away end in 113, as we all know we tried to get fans from all over to join in, particular those booted out of SS3. Cheap tickets to.
So where was everybody ? back few rows of 113 sang most of game, keeping songs going for a while. Why didn't more singers move in ? Where were the singers in 115 / 116.
Fair play to anybody that sang in 113 / 114 / 115 / 116 and all the guys that moved to 113. Did a lot of fans not go to the game as there seemed to be lots of families lower SS and areas with fans sitting down.
A new stadium with a dedicated end wont make any difference, there was an ideal opportunity against Vale to show the club that if we have our own full end we can get the place rocking. Bit few took up on the chance. Thought we could have got kippax / SS linked. It didn't really happen and not sure why.
Did notice that the roof in the 113 away end comes down lower and creates better autistics, less fans sang but it sounded better, also the steel sheets at the back where good to bang on with songs.
Didn’t go against Port Vale even though I’m in the cup scheme. Before that’s pointed out.
Been holed up in bed on and off for the last 2 days with flu. Off work this Week. Great start to a Week off, not!
Being honest Trev, City fans aren't arsed. Sadly, City fans haven’t been arsed for a long time. I don’t even think the NS expansion, including ‘another proper singing section’, which probably won’t happen for a very long time, would make any difference whatsoever. We’d just end up with the same scenario as we’ve got now, with that block being full of singers and non singers, and the general apathy amongst City fans continuing.
Ultimately the fans are to blame as they are the ones that can make a difference to the atmosphere. But by God, the club and it’s relentless pursuit of increasing matchday revenue *across all areas of the stadium* has facilitated the decline in the atmosphere inside the stadium. Both combined has led the Etihad to becoming a quiet and soulless concrete bowl.
Just like you and others I’m passionate about our support and I desperately want it to get back to how it used to be. That would be a start. But in all honesty mate, and I hate to admit this because I know how much effort you, the other 1894 lads, the couple of lads at City put into trying to improve the atmosphere at the Etihad, we’re flogging a dead horse.
If 1894 called it a day tomorrow, I don’t think it would matter to the vast majority of City fans. I know 1894 won’t do that, which is good, but it’s such a pity after all these years of effort and handwork from 1894 that it hasn’t made a real difference on the terraces. Port Vale being the latest example.
