We all appreciate the fact that if he leaves he will be a success elsewhere so why's that? We are now assembling the correct team around him so can this not work?
Perhaps he might do well but we have the chance to sign someone much better who giants of European football are after, so why not pursue the chance? And if we fail and if no one else better than Dzeko is available, persist with Dzeko. But we shouldn't stand still when a clear upgrade is on the market, we should and seem to be pursuing the player. That's just what top clubs do, always look to improve in every part of the pitch.
Surely the fact 'the giants of european football' are after him shouldnt be the reason we go for him. Or should we just chase all players Real Madrid, Barca, PSG etc. are after just because we have money?
I doubt that is why we're after him, Cavani has been a target of City's far longer than he has been a target of Chelsea or Real Madrid. We've been linked with him for 2-3 years and Mancini confirmed yesterday he'd been spoken of a lot at City. We're after him because we were poor in front of goal last season and probably want to freshen/upgrade our stagnant strike force that has seen Balotelli go and Tevez half way out the door. Remember we had the idea to upgrade our strike force last summer (RVP) but couldn't so the idea doesn't seem to be a new one.
