nasty is back, and can play alongside Garcia or Lescott

I don't think Kompany will be out for long. I am actually quite relieved. At the time I was quite a long way from the incident and I assumed his calf had gone again, but this is a groin injury. We don't know how severe it is, but he did walk off. Hoping it's just a minor tear, and 2 weeks max
 
I'd hope we can cope against Cardiff but its a real worry now,we have to sign a mobile/agile,ball playing reinforcement asap as the lads that occupied the spots at 90mins lack the quality to carry us through a season of top competition.

This is our warning to do something while the chance is still there,i'm just not sure who fits the bill?
 
Nasty trained at the ground with the rest of the squad on Sunday night.

Hopefully he'll be back soon and Kompany's injury isn't serious according to his twitter.

Walking off after a groin strain/tear is hardly an ever an issue. The problem is usually manifest in the inability of the injured player to kick a ball. The way Kompany clutched his groin the second the injury occurred wasn't good and I will be delighted if he's back in 2 weeks
 
Not sure if anyone has already mentioned the name but I'm pretty sure Thomas Vermaelen would do a job for us. Can fill in at LB if neccessary.

Looks like he is out of favour at Arsenal and if he can get back to the level he was at 2-3 years ago we would have a cracking CB on our hands.
 
I actually think we should move for Godin or we should move for the Greek at Schalke. Both would cost not much more than Athletico want for a 32yr old free transfer.

Atleti would probably want around 10m for Godin and Schalke near 20 for Papadopoulos. Also, don't forget that Demichelis was in the La Liga team of the season last season, Godin was not.
 
This is a must now (I'm sure it was before Kompany's injury tbh). We have to be realistic though - whoever comes in is playing second fiddle to Vinny & Nasty so it's likely to be someone at the tail-end of their career who isn't expecting to play or someone younger willing to bide their time.
 
I think i'ts pretty much nailed on that we'll have a new centre-back by the end of the transfer window. We still havn't replaced Kolo.
 
Thought this thread would have gone into over drive after Vinny went off last night.

Demichelis seems like a good option to me. Experienced at the top level after his time at Bayern. Played under Pellegrini before, so Manuel will know his strengths and weaknesses. He's 32 years old so a 2 year contract would be ok for him and wouldn't hinder the chances of Rekik and to a lesser extent Nastasic. Doesn't seem to be a slouch and is good on the ball. Only negative is possibly being done over on the fee for a player that moved on a free earlier in the summer.

I'm pretty sure a left footed centre half can play a few games on the right side of central defence. Certainly that would be a better option than a player who is shit in his proper position playing in a completely different position.
 
Would Arsene be daft enough to swap Garcia for Vermaelan?

They need a defensive presence and we need a centre half,works for me!

I suspect we would have to drug him to get him to agree to that.
 
any updates here? You;d think we'd get a CB in quick with Kompany injury (even if it is month max), still got 11 days though.
 
Collocini looked good, with Zab having a chat and Pelli having worked with him before if the barcodes are in turmoil why not make a derisory and insulting bid, seems to be the in thing these days.

When Mancini refused to play Lescott alongside Nastasic, Lescott said he would be happy to play on the right. He then rather undermined his case by admitting that he's never played on the right side of defense. He's a 31 year old international centre back and he's never played on the right hand side of a defense! So for him it would be a completely different position.

Its a numbers thing. Only 10% of the population are left footed but 3 out 10 outfield positions favour a left footer. That means that when a young left footed player is growing up he always gets picked on the left.
 
Everyone like to be in the starting lineup, that's the main problem with city now, Players like Sakho, Garay, Otamendi, Managala, Pepe all have the same issues, I don't know how city can resolve this, kompany always had some injury problem, can't rely on lescott so only inexperience nastastic is the only hope for city ???

If I ve the money then start everything from scratch and buy 1 young CB, 1 experience and matured CB, so young can sit on the bench and have non issues, experience can be used in important occasions, so put Garay and kompany to start with nastastic on the bench, with Demichelis

That's my choice right now ...... Total cost 25m for both players. Simple !
