City Matters thread

Quite a funny One this, So she's always a been a Chelsea women's fan as we didn't have a women's team. But she's a City fan at heart regarding supporting the men. She's admitted too not successfully transferring too City women from Chelsea, supporter wise, Which I guess must be difficult tbh.

It's not unreasonable to think everything she's said is spot on and she's been hard done by.

I feel ashamed.

I was at a United FA Cup parade in the city centre when I was young. :-(

Vote for me as your new plastic, glory hunting, Rag Rep! :-)
I took my rag son to a Un*ted v Spurs game once, I’m toast if this ever gets out.

Saw a lad get pulled at the Bayern match at the back of SSL1. Don’t know what for. Not going to speculate. Handcuffed. 7 Police officers in riot gear surrounding him, helmets, etc, not wearing them. Numerous stewards also in attendance. 2 women filling in paperwork, looking rather pleased with themselves. The Police then forced the lad into a narrow passage way that leads to the catering bar. Kept him there for quite a while, talking to him, then led him away.
They probably thought he was singing the victim song. If so that amount of force and police manpower is commensurate with the offence. City have also apologised.

She actually said she's MOSTLY a City mens team fan and neutral when it comes to Women teams

Does seem a bit odd at first but I suppose when you think about it, it’s not that weird if you’re into both men and women’s football, to support different teams.

If I was to suddenly get into watching women’s football now, I imagine I’d probably support City.

But it’s only relatively recently that most clubs have really embraced a women’s team, or even had one at all.

So it wouldn’t be totally mad to have supported another women’s team from years back and stuck with them, even when City started taking it seriously.

Not saying that’s what this lady has done. Just the concept of it isn’t outrageous.
The only irony here is that you're completely discrediting the efforts of people who put in a lot of time & effort on behalf of fellow fans, without having the slightest notion of what they've done or achieved, and when you'd have no intention of putting in a tenth of the time and effort that they have.

I've made it clear that I partly agree with you. I definitely agree that the club sell CM short and we've had numerous, sometimes heated exchanges with them over this for some time. But without that direct channel with the club, many fans wouldn't have had the opportunity to get things quietly sorted out. And one of the first things we did, nearly four and a half years ago, was talk about the North Stand extension. The club presented its plans and some weren't to our liking, so we made our own suggestions, such as covering City Square and stopping them moving the Family Stand to somewhere completely unfeasible.

And re the joint letter issued, that was nothing to do with City Matters or approved by it. The chairman was told in no uncertain terms that he was wrong to get involved in that without consulting the rest of the group. And to his credit, he realised he was in the wrong.
But the Chairman’s delusion of grandeur tell you everything that is wrong with City Matters. Who was he to write that joint statement on behalf of City fans ? He should have stepped down the minute the backlash to that statement started. Apologising secretly to the other panel members means nothing.

I appreciate the time that the panel spare but it’s turned into a secret society where the club decide on a few matters to be discussed with a panel with no information leaving the room before or after.

Surely the City Matters concept was to be be a conduit between the fans and the club - when in fact the CM panel are simply representing themselves.

How can supporters tell City Matters reps feedback on issues when everything discussed is a secret. If supporters can’t have an input then City Matters is not fit for purpose.

And the icing on the cake is we’ve found out today that some of the panel have used the position for personal interest.

In her tweet she just says she's a Mens City Fan. I've not read the "mostly" bit anywhere but fair enough if she's posted that.
It's difficult to know exactly what's going on here, but from what I can see the CM committee tend to address matters relating to fans who follow the men's team rather than the women's team - someone feel free to correct me if I've got that wrong - and while her tweets are mainly to do with women's football and the Chelsea women's team in particular, her occasional tweets about men's football are mainly to do with our men's team. For Kev Parker to basically accuse her of deceiving him over the past 4 years is odd. Maybe she told him and others that she supports City's women's team as well as the men and that's why he's come out with that, or maybe she didn't in which case she hasn't really hidden anything from anyone as all her tweets about the Chelsea women's team are there for all to see in plain sight on her Twitter page!

There's something called email. I used to get a lot of it on my CM account. You should try it sometimes. It saves a fortune on stamps.

You're a boring, negative, whining bastard. Try to post something constructive for a change.

I have this vision of you sitting in your armchair, by your net-curtained window, looking out and saying to no one in particular "They've got a new car at number 35. Only had the last one a year. Look at her at number 27. Who does she think she is? Mutton dressed as lamb. Them kids at number 36 are getting out of hand. Mark my words; they'll be in Strangeways by the time they're 18. TV's shit these days. Was much better when there was only two channels."

How could she tell him that mate when all her social media is about Chelsea women which she's open about supporting. too me he's talking bollocks which he does none stop anyway.

I do think she's been attacked unfairly but that's just my opinion reading everything.

I appreciate things like sensitive commercial information and the like can’t be discussed outside the meeting.

Season ticket renewals aren’t far away, so telling the fans there will be no season ticket price rises next season, as City Matters Reps have requested, shouldn’t be confidential or a problem for the club to do. Telling the fans there won’t be season ticket or match day ticket price rises doesn’t need to be held back until the day season tickets are launch. In these times of austerity and price rises across the board, people are struggling financially, and are genuinely worried about further seaon ticket and match day ticket prices rises next season. The club could end those worries with an early and positive statement saying there will be no season ticket or match day ticket prices rises next season.

This is why we end up with fucking marching bands and cringefest 'entertainment' at the Etihad. Because we have complete weirdos acting on behalf of actual fans (who understand football culture).

As a rule of thumb, City, if you're reading this. A good starting point for a FAN REPRESENTATIVE is that they support City (wholly, not mainly) and that they go and watch the first team week in and week out - like actual fans. that isn't too much to ask right?

That's a disgusting attack on part time City supporting ish weirdos that mate.

Be ashamed and light a candle

Call me old fashioned, but I don't get the notion of 'supporting' City Men's team whilst at the same time 'supporting' the Women of a different club. Personally I have little interest in Women's football but I would always want City Ladies to do well, and at the expense of all other clubs.
I can't see how loyalties can be split into two where football is concerned. Doesn't make any sense to me, but each to their own, I suppose.
