City V Southampton post match discussion

Can someone please analyze the tape and tell me Dzeko's passing percentage today compared to everyone else? I know I'm biased, but I fail to see how Dzeko had anything but a decent performance today. He engaged, held the ball up, made some good passes, made himself available in the box. Sure he wasted a few chances but so did Tevez, Balo, and others. Why is he the favorite target for bashing? It's almost like the Nazis blaming everything on the Jews.

Match today should have been won by half time,
Having said that, mancini nearly fucked up in many aspects of todays game.
Did he take it serious enough by putting rodwell straight into team and messing around with formation we'd played all pre season to then revert back to last seasons formation.
Does he deliberately pick squads to get rid of players and make them unsettled. Kolo, johnson, dejong.
Pick best team and squad then worry if the leave in the window later.

X2
Exactly how I see it sir.
As for dzeko 4th choice striker yes, big game champions league player no, just look at the Napoli games last year dzeko 6 chances 0 goals, cavani 5 chances 3 goals

22/29 passing.

His overall performance in my opinion was poor, I remember in the first half Nasri (I think?) pulled it back to him in the box and he almost feel over after his first touch. Then at the end when we were running down the clock he decided to go on a solo run and lost the ball.

I know that's just two examples but he just looks clumsy all the time, but his goal scoring record is more than impressive. I always want him to do well (contrary to popular belief on here)

There was also a chance when Yaya tried to play it into Mario and it took a deflection and rolled right into the path of Edin in the box, but he was too busy moaning at Yaya for not passing it to him the first time he reacted too slow.

He's perfect to bring off the bench, which even though he played 75 minutes, he did today. Not many, if any, 4th choice strikers have his goal scoring record so we are lucky to have him. Yet, I would rather Mario take Aguero's place for whatever time he's out because I feel he offers more, he was filling in at left back sometimes yesterday.

Zabaleta also dribbled the ball straight down into their territory and lost it instead of holding it better. Honestly at this point I think we've conditioned ourselves to certain expectations from certain players and sometimes it's fair. Sometimes though it isn't. I'll use the example of my view on Rodwell. I think he's overrated, straightforward, and has serious lapses that lead to severe errors that lead to opposition goals. I've re-watched today's match to pay particular attention to what he did well and I feel that I was a bit harsh. Only a bit though. Hopefully he'll improve. I won't hold my breath though. That's the thing in the end. We have to trust the club and the manager to get it right as they've earned it.

Let's hope we thump the scousers.

On a non-Dzeko topic, did anyone else feel like Hart was moving slowly today? I wonder if he was still fighting back issues today. He looked a bit slow to react, to me. I hope he feels better soon. We need the big guy at 100%.

A few too many players had poor games and shocking moments. The question was asked of Dzeko so I'm not singling him out.

But it was the first game and we won, 3 points are all that matter. We'll improve and push on.

i think the whole message on a t shirt thing has been done to death now. exciting if not too exciting game, that we couldve quite easily have not won today. all credit to soton they looked lethal infront of goal. nasri starting to show some of the form we saw at arsenal, he was tremendous today. now lets all go back to the de rossi thread..

This^^
Spirited performance from the saints, bored to death of T-shirt messages. Should just let the football do the talking. 3 points as required.
Nasri's was nice.

Ok, all beautiful sentiments and everything, but if a message is shown for every occasion where does it stop? Happy Easter, happy Passover, happy Chinese new year. They're paid to express themselves with the ball. Given that they all have twitter accounts isnt this the appropriate medium?
Anyway that was just an quick non football observation, good news is that the Kun may not be injured for long, we,got 3 points in the bag. I was really impressed with Marios attitude. He was the 4th striker brought on the pitch, he worked his socks off and didn't moan once. Dzekos 1st touch let him down on occasion but he did get a goal which is all we need him to do.
