Thinking about it, if the two tone rivers were behind the ship rather than the rose, it'd solve three problems and immediately look more like the '90's badge. A simple tweak would go a long way.

We couldn't though. There isn't an infinite number of ways to arrange a ship, rose and three stripes inside a small circular badge, and every good design we saw on here meant one choice less for the official design team to chose from.

I really don't think the club would disaprove of something just because it wasn't done by an employee.

I really do love it, consider myself a circle convert! I can see a point where we will just use the Shield element and that image will become synonymous with City. I think that is why they have made it slightly more prominent. Inter do this with their badge and they have a Circle badge.
