Many occurred over the weekend. But yeah its horrific. Those England hospital deaths should have this thread in shock.
But no comments?
I am horrified.
1012 in England in hospital alone.
Utterly tragic
We will have a giant number of deaths today - maybe over 1500.
Have we become so desensitised to the lives ended by the virus?
Or how we have got to this point?
They do have the supply. It seems they don't have the supply to go any faster.
There will be loads of variants. There's a Brazilian variant? Fucking hell, this'll never end.
No. The new variant stopping measures working that previously worked. Are these figures a direct result of Christmas and the two days of joy ?
They do have the supply.
Read the vaccination plan.
The issue is batch testing and it won't be sorted for a week and a half. Specialised work and it can't be rushed as having a bad vaccine batch in the wild would be a disaster.
We could be doing 400k+ a day if we sort it though
The UK has done extremely well with vaccine procurement but I'm puzzled with the situation with the Moderna vaccine. The UK got its orders in for this well before the EU but it appears the EU is starting to receive it whereas we won't until late March/early April.
I've been very positive wrt the roll out of the vaccination programme but I'm getting the feeling that the government is being deliberately vague about 'supply' issues by inferring that it is because the manufacturers aren't up to speed.Testing is part of supply.
"Supply" includes *everything* necessary to get to the customer.
We and the EU made our initial purchases of the Moderna Vaccine in November. Moderna might have had a better idea of the EU’s intention to purchase earlier than that because it was linked to the EU’s procurement exercise. Both we and the EU have bought additional does recently. The UK has done extremely well with vaccine procurement but I'm puzzled with the situation with the Moderna vaccine. The enormity of our failure:

Hopefully it is just part of the inevitable bugs and cock ups that you would expect at the start of such a huge endeavour but I will be far less understanding if they still persist week commencing 25th.
Im struggling to see an end to this. The new variants seem to be ripping through the country and i dont see any light til at least summer where as i always hung my hat on easter.
Id got my head round jan-marchbeing shite and thats fine. But i hope things settle by april. As long as we don't relax too quickly, I think things will be looking much better by Easter (4th April). We seem to have peaked for cases. But Jan and Feb will be awful, I'm afraid.
