Dani Olmo

Simply baffling why we havn't snapped him up already. Surely he would be part of our succession planning. If KDB goes now or next summer he would help fill the attacking creativity gap. Plus, would allow us to save & spend big once the top young midfielders do become available/feasible, which simply doesn't look it will occur this summer.

Foot Mercato reckon weve put an offer in

Hotly courted in this summer transfer window, Dani Olmo has been the subject of an offer from Manchester City. For its part, Barça still considers the Spaniard as a priority. A meeting between the Blaugrana management and the agent of the RB Leipzig player is also scheduled for this weekend.

It's a real tug-of-war between two European giants for Dani Olmo! Since arriving in Germany from Dinamo Zagreb in 2020, the Spaniard has had the gift of performing well with RB Leipzig, even if he has encountered a few physical problems along the way. Versatile and capable of playing both as a playmaker and on the front of the attack, the 26-year-old attacker was already on Manchester City 's radar last summer.
Ultimately, the Terrassa native remained in Saxony while renewing his loyalty to RB Leipzig, extending his contract until June 2027. Coming off an interesting 2023-2024 season with the winner of the 2023 German Cup (8 goals, 5 assists in 25 games in all competitions), Dani Olmo logically earned his place in Luis de la Fuente's squad to play Euro 2024 with Spain. Integrated into the rotation of the Spanish coach, the Iberian took advantage of Pedri's misfortunes to force his way into the starting eleven.

Manchester City have gone on the offensive, Barça remain in the race!
With three goals and voted top scorer of the competition, Dani Olmo ended his adventure in style across the Rhine by winning the continental title so coveted by the Roja. A magnificent performance and enough to put Europe at his feet. Followed by Bayern Munich, the Leipzig player has also been announced in the sights of Atlético Madrid but especially FC Barcelona and Manchester City, who have emerged as the two main favorites to obtain the signature of the native of Terrassa during this summer transfer window.

While the two aforementioned teams have approached the German club and the player in recent days, we can confirm that Manchester City has shown a concrete interest in making its offer for the former Dinamo Zagreb player who, for his part, seems to give priority to the Culers. His agent has an appointment in Barcelona this weekend to discuss with the Blaugrana management. For its part, Barça is pushing and still wants to sign him, but must first sell to free up the necessary cash to afford him. As a reminder, Leipzig is demanding €60 million to sell its Spanish prodigy.

Foot Mercato is very unreliable tbf. Not saying we aren't in for Olmo, but I think it'd take Alvarez joining Atletico to happen.

Didn't Olmos release clause expire? Why would we buy him now when it would obviously cost us more money?

Julian is going nowhere for at least one more season (imo @Worsleyweb )

leipzig sometimes have gentlemen’s agreements with their players and the gossip is they won’t inflate the price.

i still don’t think it’s happening, rc price or higher.

Apparently Barca have offered 40m eur. In 4 annual installments!
Adds on 20m if trophies won.
Wouldn't have thought Leipzig would go for that.

Barcelona have a history of lowballing clubs, particularly recently because they are skint, thinking that because they are the mighty Barca the player will be desperate to join them and agitate for a move at the lower price. Arrogant and, in the last couple of years, not particularly effective any more as they aren't quite as attractive a they once were.

We don't want to pay 50odd million up front in one payment, pay slightly over the release clause and on favourable terms and spread the payments for PSR purposes.
