De Bruyne?

70 million for a 24 year old, I'd expect him to take us to the next level and be world class or very close to it.

De Bruyne is a good player, a very good player, but not a 70 million world class player.

But it isn't 70. Its 50 million pounds and 70 million Euros. Who gives a shit what we pay in Euros. We only care about pounds. 50 is a lot but it is not 70.

Thought it was £85 mill package,£50 mill transfer £135 k a week
And Yaya Toure's package has probably exceeded £100 million since he signed. And Ronaldo's package at Real Madrid has probably surpassed £200 million. Why is it only when City buy a player the wages are included in the fee? It's all a web spun by certain papers to perpetuate the "money bags City" spin.

Arsenal paid £35m for Sanchez last summer, and I think he's a better player than De Bruyne. To spend over €70m on a 24 year old, he should already be world class, and I don't think De Bruyne has proven that yet. It's all well and good saying that Sheikh Mansour has unlimited funds, but he still wants to club to be profitable. Saying "fuck it, just pay what they want" is fine once, but then you say the same again for Sterling, and again for Pogba, and suddenly you're spending £40-50m more than you budgeted for and affecting how much you can spend in future transfer windows. With Sterling I get it, because it's not often and Englishman comes along that could be a key player in our team. Anyway, hopefully this is bullshit and they'll settle for something closer to the £30m mark.
Which is more important to you: nationality or ability? De bruyne is on a different level with Sterling. If I can pay £50m for Sterling, then I'll pay £50m for kevin in a heart beat. And the homegrown requirement? Not a problem for me because we don't have to register 25 senior players. If we have 17 Foreigners plus 5 HG players for example, we can register 22 and the rest would come from our younger chaps including Ihenacho, Lopes (I think) and denayer (I think).

£50 again.... Fook off ... sorry.. the piss is being taken
Javi Martinez went for €40M to Bayern in 2012 from a team who didn't want or need to sell. KDB was the best player in the Bundesliga over the likes of Reus and a host of Bayern players. Great players don't come cheap. He can be surrounded by better players here to become world class. His best striker is being linked with Newcastle, KDB is being linked with the best.

Manchester City wait on De Bruyne contract talks before launching big-money offer

The Premier League side are expecting developments regarding the Belgium international's contract talks with Wolfsburg and are ready to make a big-money approach

Manchester Cityare waiting on the outcome ofKevin De Bruyne'scontract talks withWolfsburgbefore launching a big-money offer for the in-demand midfielder,Goalunderstands.

Wolfsburg are determined to keep hold of their prized asset, with sporting directorKlaus Allofs stating on Monday that De Bruyne will remain with the German cluband that they are prepared to open talks over an improved contract.

But the Belgium international has made his demands known and City are expecting developments in the next 48 hours one way or the other.

Should the Bundesliga side be unwilling to match their playmaker's expectations, City will look to take advantage and test their resolve with a formal offer.

City are reluctant to pay more than £35 million for the Belgian but are able to offer wages in the region of £150,000 a week to tempt the 24-year-old former Chelsea man to make a return to England.

Goal understands that Wolfsburg will stick to their guns and only consider an exorbitant offer from interested parties, althoughDe Bruyne has previously confirmed that there have been "informal contacts" between City and his agent.

We don't have 5 homegrown though, we have 2, that's the problem.

3 - Hart, Clichy, Wright

True but can you really count Wright? I know technically you can but he's just making up numbers, we need homegrown that actually strengthen the squad.

Don't mean to disrespect Wright, as he's obviously doing something right to get another year deal but he wasn't even named in the CL squad last season.

Impossible to tell whether this is the usual case of an agent and player using obvious interest in a player to extract the best contract offer, or whether the player is on the verge of moving to City.

De Bruyne is a Bundesliga star. He's playing for a team in the Champions League. It's not like he's in Sterling's situation.

He doesn't have to play, and you wont get many outstanding keepers who will understudy Hart and Caballero

Exactly mate, he won't play, we're better off having someone that adds something to the squad in the homegrown slots.

That may well be true if we had fulfilled our homegrown criteria. We can't really start discussing replacing one player with another with more value to the first team when there's another five slots to fill. Fill them up, then discuss it.

We can't fill the 5 up mate, that's another part of the problem.

To fill them up it would mean we need 4 club grown players ( where CL is concerned anyway ). The maximum size of our squad in terms of senior players this season will be 21 because we have no clubgrown.

I think even £50m can be classed as a fair price. He was the most productive playmaker in Europe. His stats alone outclassed world class players such as Robben, Bale, Iniesta etc. Even our own gem David Silva couldn't boast those impressive numbers. Add to the fact he'll be in a better side with more movement and I'm sure he'd be a gem here

I'd forgotten 4 of the 8 need to be club grown, my mistake.

OK sell Richard Wright and buy Gareth Bale :D
