It is a source of not inconsiderable bewilderment to me that people are making summary judgments on Pellegrini after three fucking games.

It is an utterly absurd thing to do.

GDM I don't think a lot of the fans are making 'summary judgements' on the new manager its just that after the last 2 games we have played a very lot of people are very worried - with some justification I might add.

I dread to think if we had got the first half dozen games the Rags have got this season. Without any exaggeration if we had we could have well been out of contention for the title after them with the way we are playing.

I think its also fair to say that we, the fans expected a bit more after some of the things we had been told about how our playing style was going to change, we was going to have much more width, be far more atractive etc etc. We know this takes time but after 3 games there does not appear to be one jot of difference. If anything its the opposite.

The natives are restless...
It is natural to be concerned I guess, but to expect this team to reflect any new manager's vision within three games is, as I said, absurd. It is one of the reasons why changing a manager should only be undertaken very cautiously, which I believe was the case with the club's dismissal of Mancini, an assertion I suspect you may disagree with.

Many teams have stuttering starts and go on to win the league - united did it several times under Ferguson. The time to be "very worried" is a considerable time off, the end of October at the earliest.

We haven't played anyone of note as yet, granted, but that's all the more reason to withhold judgment, surely.

I also think you're wrong about no discernible improvement in width and pace: against Newcastle and in the second half today we were palpably more of a threat in those regards imo.

OK that maybe true. But performances like that will see City very quickly out of the top 4 and Champions League

Shambles today. Pellegrini not impressing me. Man to man marking in a defence riddled with injuries. That's just plain stupid

Then we get a ridiculous set up today where we had Navas on the touchline, two forwards, and no one left in midfield against a Hull 5, and Pellegrini just made like for like subs.

he was shite last week and he was shite this week if that's a "hoilistic" approach then keep it get the players working hard and fucking scared the manager might knuckle them if their not.

I hate the word 'vision'. All I hear is Pellers and his bleeding vision. I asked what is his bleeding vision during pre season and I got told its attacking football and a much improved pre season training regime. To date I have yet to see evidence of either and I strongly suspect that judging by his actions after we went 1-0 up this attacking football vision was done purely for the gullible masses.

But no one is panicking. We concede far too many chances for a team of our quality and we were so static in the first half they looked like weeping angels but no one is panicking.

Anyone else got a 'Hodgson to Liverpool' feel about all this? Popular acclaim in the media. Players queuing up to say nice things. Ray of light after the dark days of Benitez. Did well in Europe with unfancied team yada, yada. It was the 442 rigid formation in the first half that prompted it. Very Hodgson like. Probably just me.

I have. He seems a nice guy like Roy, which is not always what's required.I get the feeling that Ferguson, Mancini, Mourinho all have a bit of a nasty edge to them.

I am really not concerned that Pellegrini will have us playing superb football. I am positive he will.

But that does not mean I am not concerned at all. My worry is that we are clearly looking shaky at the moment and unless we get our shit together quickly we could very easily lose a couple more games, not least Stoke away and then the rags. And if we did go 9 points back do early on, with all our tough away games against the top sides still to play, it's going to be a hell of a struggle to catch up.

The other worry I have is that we are still far too narrow and tryng to walk the ball in through the middle most of the time. It's taken us a season and a half to realise that just does not work in this league. Mancini never figured out that it doesn't work. I hope it doesn't take Pellegrini half a season or more to figure out the same. Trouble is, Kidd is hardly going to tell him, having been at the helm (partly at least) whilst we persevered for so long with such a narrow, thorough the middle, approach.

I want to see Navas hugging the touchstone, not cutting in all the time. Nasri can do that to no effect. We don't need Navas doing it.
