Do you give a toss about England?

Nope.
He should never have picked him in the squad in the first place.Having the balls to drop a player he should never have picked isn't really having balls. Especially as,just like Jose at utd, he will bring rooney on as sub so that he still gets a cap, gets nearer the records that he has to break so that the utd legend thing goes on.

Having balls would be Southgate saying..at no point this season.never mind last, has Wayne Rooney looked like a top class player. His goal and assist record in the last few months is poor,it's time to look at better options...

While I agree that Rooney hasn't been top class for a few years, you can't go around as a manager assassinating individuals; the sqaud would turn on you in an instant

I'm getting a victim vibe about Shrek.

Retires early claiming the fans got rid of him and their actions affected his family. I bet he's already got the BBC doc/Sun serialisation in the bag.

Do you think he should have played all the games he has up until this point?

As already answered. If I was England manager I wouldn't have played him after the Euro's.
But I'm not the England manager.
Just like I question Bilic continuing to play Zaza over Fletcher, just like other Hammers fans question Bilic for playing Antonio right back.
All fans have different opinions on who should play or not. Why don't fans understand this and just leave it to the manager to decide ? If he's not getting the results or performances after at least a few games then fans should question. But both Big Sam and now Southgate are getting pelters before a ball has been kicked. I think this is the pysch of the English fans and media now days - it's not whether we're good or not - it's purely about moaning and criticising.

Rooney should not even have gone to the euros.nothing about his performances last season justified it.
And,people moan because there is so much to effing moan about.corrupt manager on the bleeding take, caught out for the second time in his career, makes you wonder why he ever got the job after his first fuck up.
Gareth bloody Southgate? No backbone when Keane put studs in,no retribution physically or verbally on the man who stamped on his chest during a football game.
Picks Wayne Rooney for the squad against Malta on the basis of about 10 garbage performances for utd with virtually no goals or assists...No backbone.just another Ron greenwood, without the experience, got the right voice -tossing southerner who will do bugger all and return to obscurity pretty soon.a puppet or a muppet.take your pick.

Who could the F.A realistically appoint where every English fan would be completely happy ? Whoever we get would get the same amount of abuse you have given, and heaven forbid they should lose a match

I don't care about England but I watch the games to see Sterling, Stones and Hart, and occasionally Delph.

The fact that Rooney shouldn't be captain has little to do with ability IMO, and more to do with the fact that he's a prick who the English fans don't respect. I couldn't see Pep letting Kompany continue to be captain if he ever behaved like Rooney did in the derby.

Clearly a decision made by the FA to save face. The correct decision would be to drop him completely, putting him on the bench means nothing.
