I didn't say he favours anyone but I do think only idiot would give Dzeko 3 or 7 minutes when he's in such form.

Mancini is pathetic..

Or maybe he knows the best way to play Dzeko is to have him as an 80th minute substitute?

Maybe, But shall Edin agree with that? He want to play, and there is 19 teams in English PL that would start him regulary...
It is truth that he score more often when come from bench, and the truth iss that he doesn't suit in style of play, BUT the fact is he is our best striker this season, and HE WANTS TO PLAY!!!

Lets pray that he start "gegen" Dortmund and score Hat-Trick!!!

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

Classic striker finish, spin and smashed into the top corner! Dortmund be scared!! Let's hope he starts.

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

Superb goal today. The turn and shot was fantastic.

Some goals in that YouTube video are just outrageous. A consistent run in the team brings that out of him.

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

That video shows the absolute quality this lad has.

Left foot, right foot or on the head, short or long range he does it all......

The goal today he holds off 2 players , swivels and then smashes it inch perfect into the top corner.

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

Against Dortmund. A repeat of this would be nice. :)

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

Excellent finish by Edin today but similar to Adam Johnson we see many of his best moments late in the game against tire defences, when opposition defences are defending deep and City are pushing for victory.

If Dzeko started regularly the same old problems will surface. A bad first touch, less cohesion in the passing between the attacking players, less movement upfront.

When teams defend deep he is perfect backing into players, working the areas around the 18 yeard box. However in the context of a full game, to take control of the game and stretch sides, the passing between Aguero, Tevez, Nasri, Silva, Yaya allows us to dictate the game. Too often Edin slows down the play or does not link with the others players as effectively.

If we had wingers it maybe different for Edin but I wouldnt change the methodology of playing as I doubt he would outscore a Tevez or Aguero overe the course of the season or enable us to dictate the game as effectively

"@EdDzeko- Never give up and always believe in yourself! Those are the words I live by... @MCFC great win today!!"

Love it!

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

FrankSinatra,

Interesting analysis. However, I dont think it is really correct. First, Dzeko had already been a center of offense for few seasons in Germany and it worked really well. Sure, he scored a lot from quality wingers, however many of his goals came from play as well. And also, its evident here that he is not anyone's first choice when passing the ball. Dzeko often gets overlooked and is passed the ball only when everyone else up top is unavailable. Well, that by definition means that this attack is less likely to produce a score.

So I dont think you are being as objective. Dzeko is just as good as Aguero or Tevez when given the same opportunity and same attention as these two guys enjoy all along. You fant be a third choice all the time and outscore everyone else. Yet Dzeko is consistently doing it.

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

Dzeko started the game v Arsenal FrankSinatra and he was great I thought. He didn't score but tbh we were poor in that game and couldn't create anything.

The only time you see Edin can't trap a bag of cement and can't hit a barn door Dzeko is when he doesn't play and suddenly gets thrown in.

When he is confident he is a completely different player as we have seen recently either starting or on the bench.

If we left him on the bench and he didn't play one minute until December he would fall to pieces and look like a pub league player the next game he plays.

Edin is clearly pissed. Which has done wonders for his confidence. Playing or not.

like he did Bayern...ha

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

Like the analysis, too. In the world of fixture congestion, squad rotation, keeping 4 strikers happy and maximizing their opportunities for success, that means Edin should be starting in matches where the opposition is parking the bus -- home matches, against defensive minded teams, etc. And then have him available off the bench for situations like today.

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

He has had a shit deal - he deserves a start in a top game

Top pro and deserves better

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

To be honest edin has scored some vital goals for city, won 2 trophies in less than two seasons. He should go down as a legend.

he's on his way out very soon.. that run to lescott said many things to me

Pathetic reasoning!!

He may have had a bet with him for all you bloody know!!

JL might've said 'You better score!'

You don't know.

Almost right Bigga, Dzeko just tweeted that Lescott predicted he'd score.
