Would you then call Aguero/Tevez/Silva/Mario incompetent and ineffective when Edin has to be brought in to rescue the game on 3-4 occasions? He is not a super-sub and he proved his contribution numerous times in the games he did start. He could and should improve on all levels however!! The FACT is that many games this season Tevez/Kun/Mario/Silva started playing "our style of the game" resulting in teams reading and shutting us down until Mancini out of desperation had to play Plan D(zeko).

For folks bashing him for "not adapting" to our tiki-taka style of play here is flip-side: are other City players incapable of making long, precise, out-of-nowhere crosses once in a while toward the f'n box like RVP used to get at Arsenal by Song? Just imagine where would we be if whole team, beginning with Mancini, started to play a bit more utilizing what Edin is best known for - fast-paced attacks - instead of stubbornly drilling the ball through the middle. Teams wouldn't know what hit them !

We don't own players like that. So the decision the club has is whether to buy a player in the hopes that it increases his output, or sell him and buy a player that increases everyone else's output.

Seems like a no brainers. It's a lose-lose situation for Dzeko.

Well, instead of selling Dzeko, wouldn't City be better off getting players like that who could actually ping crosses into the box? You know, put the non-existent Plan B finally into action, when opposing teams know how to defend against our current tactics?

been saying this for ages. our attack is not the issue its the slow lethargic midfield supplying the service thats been fukin us over and kuns lost shooting boots. invest in baines, isco and a pacy right winger (or mica if he comes back). and will start pumping goals in cuz if we play with the same shit stain pace it dont matter who we buy upfront where not going to score fuk all.

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

Milner and Zab have been our best players this season. But Dzeko has been our best striker, without a doubt. I'll miss him once he goes to Dortmund.

milner, zabs, aguero, dzeko and nasty have been our best this season IMO

followed closely by dave.

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

Zorc - the Dortmund manager told that they have not talked with Manchester City about Dzeko...

Honigstein via twitter...

Zorc's message definitely is wrong. During the dinner of the officials of Manchester City with Dortmund prior to the CL match city offered an exchange of Lewandowski vs Dzeko. Source - somebody who sat on the table...

Other than Reus , they have never gone close to spending 20mill on a player and they won't pay anything near 20mill for Dzeko.

Had they got him from Wolsburg before we stepped in they wouldn't have paid more than 10 mill for him tops.
Uh uh no. We payed a whole lot more for Dzeko than just 20m. When we bought Dzeko, Dzeko was the next best thing in the footballing planet - so much so that we can say he was the "Cavani" or "Falcao" 3/4 years ago.

If they have to had gotten him from Wolfsburg, they would have paid at least, say 30m. Which is why Bayern never made a move all those years.

This. I remember that Wolfsburg asking price was around €40mil and Dzeko was rightly pissed at them for overpricing him and making him stay when he wanted to leave.

They're talking about sign on fee here which would make it all easier.

A/ they wouldn't pay that much for him then or now.

B/ We were still paying well over the odds for players then and selling them at reduced prices and still are to a lesser degree than under Taksin and early days because of who we are but that is changing now as we saw from Tevez and Balotelli and the thing called FFP.

If they get £20million for Lewandowski (they're looking for more), why would they not pay £20million for Dzeko? They will be getting massive Champions League revenue this year that they aren't used to.

The public denials could be a ploy to keep Lewandowski's price tag up for potential buyers, if teams know they're signing Dzeko they know Lewandowski's replacement is already at the club.

For me, wage demands/agent fees and not the price tag is the main threat to this deal.
