I can maybe accept that confidence will have an impact on his touch, his passing, his finishing etc, but lacking confidence is no excuse for refusing to put In a shift. In fact, if he'd just pull his finger out and put a bit of effort in the would be a hell of a lot less negativity surrounding him. We're a sucker for workrate and effort, we'll let virtually anything go ability wise if the player is clearly giving it his all, if Dzeko was the exact same player, with regards to his technical abilities but chased a few things down, physically battled the centre half a bit more, made it hard work for the opposition and so on then this thread would be about half it's current size.
Totally agree with the above, in fact if he put in the effort this thread would likely be all about what a great player he is, but he doesn't, and that's the problem, we all know he'll get goals if plays, but he needs to show far more effort than he often does, even if he was playing crap, but putting in the effort, he'd get a lot more praise, what's worse, is he does it now and again, especially for his country, so we all know he can do it.

He DID it last year and earned super sub label, nothing more. According to BM "hater club" he was still shit, wank, cnut, donkey, etc. who was lucky to score all those goals. Yes, he cared, worked hard, scored dozen of fantastic goals, but did not earn to start regularly and thread(s) here were endless and deleted for some reason.

Do you remember final vs. Wigan? RM did not play him until we conceded so Edin got 2 fooking minutes.

The trouble with this thread is that the "for Dzeko" camp are often blindly optimistic and the "against Dzeko" camp are over exaggerating his performances. I agree that strikers are all about confidence. Indeed most footballers either thrive on confidence or stability. Aguero even loses his touch and form when he is lacking confidence. The trouble is whilst Dzeko has not had a major run in the side under either Mancini or Pellegrini and then maybe has missed out on the required time to find form and confidence, he has made such a huge impact as a substitute and then done nothing when he has started. He has looked lazy, uninterested and his control and touch have been lacking. Compare this to Negredo who is in a new league and has settled immediately, showing the same drive and ambition whether starting or being a substitute.

You cannot argue with Dzeko's stats, his minute to goals ratio is impressive. It is his overall contribution to play that many are unpleased with. Even if Dzeko's stats were to suggest he would score more per minute than Negredo I would prefer Negredo for his overall contribution. He tired defenders, battles with them and runs them ragged. Over the course of 90mins that forces errors late on that fresh legs can capitalise on. There are no stats for that contribution. I am a believer in statistics but they can never tell the entire story. For me, until we play a 4-3-3 with Dzeko as a centre point and two wingers, he will never fulfil his potential here at City. I am still more than happy to have him at the club though because he does score goals.

You seem to block out the reason he became a "super sub", he would come on late against tired teams and score (fair play to him), then be given a start and play like an asthmatic sloth, back to the bench, come on as a sub, score, be given a start and repeat.

No matter realy, score four to Liv. and was benched next game. Many forwards do not score every game but still not get benched. Dzeko will leave City after he wins one more title, the only title we have realistic chance to win. As for as Dzeko he has nothing else to prove...

He's obviously mistaken it for the spurs game it doesn't take a genius to work that one out.

There are City fans who aren't Dzeko fans, there are Dzeko fans who aren't City fans, there are Bosnian's who don't speak much English and English speakers who don't speak English well.

Cluster-Fuck.

City fans - We all know deep down he isn't a City player. I could never take him to my heart anyway.
Bosnians - He is your version of our Robbie Keane. Shit in reality but you think he is great because he is Bosnian and scores the odd goal, and has good stats on Fifa.

And it does not take a genius to know that he was not "benched" but rested for an upcoming European game, how many fucking times do we have to go through this?

Poor Edin, career totally fucked up by being rested for one game.
