I think that anyone who can't handle not smoking or inhaling nicotine for an hour and fourty five minutes shouldn't go to football matches, if you get caught in any way, shape or form, more fool you.

Right okay mate - I won't apply for a season ticket next season shall I then? On the terms that I smoke vaporised fucking water? What a dick. This forum has turned into nazi fucking Germany. I'm sure you're a much much much better city fan than me.

I want too mate. I've had the MEN rag ringing me asking for my "experience" I'm not about to drag the club through shit so I politely declined. But I will be ringing Fletcher everyday til I get an answer.

You must be pretty frustrated so fair play to you for declining.

For what it's worth when I was at Goodison last year a bloke had an electronic cigarette and one of the stewards, who clearly thought it was a real cigarette, pointed it out to the head steward who made his way through the crowd to the middle of the row to chuck him out, only to discover it was electronic. I think he asked him to stop using it as it was obviously confusing from a distance but he didn't eject him.

Aye I'm there tomorrow so I will ask before I even dare try it haha. I recently came back from New York and was in JFK airport smoking it. A police officer came up and was amazed by it he had a drag!

The subject of smoking, caught smoking, caught 'not smoking' is a regular topic on here which often causes petty and repetitive debate.
It is boring and maybe needs it's own thread.

For the record,I am used to stinking of smoke after going for a slash in the bogs of 116 and think it's bang out of order that non smokers/kids have to put up with that experience at the match but fully support the idea of a designated smoking area either in/near the concourse or outside 116.

Will the powers that be have the common sense to do owt about it?

Probably not.

oh dear..

That you fletch?

Well either that supporter has gone to the Evening News or, the MEN have trolled Bluemoon for something and printed it in todays paper.

As someone said the other day all forms of press and media are checking every comment on here looking to create a story. So, is this one, or has the chap involved gone to the paper. If so makes us look bad again.

A City supporter has been left fuming after he was banned from the Etihad Stadium – for ‘smoking’ an electronic cigarette.

The Blues fan, who asked not to be named, was spotted by stewards with the device at their clash with Chelsea – which came in the first week he had not been smoking.

He was told that the e-cigarette, which can be legally smoked anywhere, was not permitted at the stadium and was then escorted from the ground by police.

And now the lifelong supporter has been written to by Peter Fletcher, City’s head of safety and security, who has told him that his season card has been suspended.

The disgruntled Blue said: “I was on the concourse at half-time having a drink with a few mates.

“I took a drag of it and was asked by security to come into a room – I just thought I was going to be asked to explain what it was.

“I was told they were banned and asked for my season card which I handed over. I was then escorted out of the ground by police.”

E-cigarettes give users a nicotine hit but contain no poisonous toxins. They are not lit and do not contravene the government’s anti-smoking laws which state it is an offence to be in possession of lit tobacco in a public place.

Some airlines even sell then to passengers to be used mid-air. But it is down to the discretion of individual institutions to decide whether they should be banned.

And the letter from Mr Fletcher states that City deem electronic cigarettes as prohibited items and it is in the terms and conditions of season cards.

The fan, who has appealed against his ban, said: “I am devastated. I have gone home and away for years and I’ve never had a problem or been in trouble. The way they treated me was appalling.”

United say they also ban electronic cigarettes but would deal with each case individually.

Amanda Jacks, from national fans group the Football Supporters Federation, believes the club have overreacted.

She said: “We recognise that the use of electronic cigarette is against the ground regulations and we don't know the full circumstances of this particular ban but if it is proved that he was not given any warning, ejected and banned we feel that is slightly over the top.

“The fact that he is a loyal season ticket holder, ideally a simple warning would have sufficed.”

The club have made it clear that you can't use electronic cigarettes either, strange but they do make it obvious.

Where do they make it obvious? Surely a simple you can't smoke that in here would have sufficed?
How obvious do you want it. There are TANNOY announcements before every game stating this now all we need is for the obnoxious morons smoking real cigarettes to be banned and we can all breathe safely.

this is a joke - so why not make them look bad.. I love city but the way fletcher goes about his business is a joke. The most unhelpful person I have ever had to deal with.
