Erling Haaland

I’m not sure, Graham Hunter said both Real and Barca have lines to a huge amount of credit this summer.

He hasn't been reliable in years.

Besides, he hasn't taken into account that Barcelona has to pay the banks 266m euros by June, and they also have to pay another 160m euros by the end of the year. They also have one of the highest wages in the world.

This is clearly a PR stunt to say he tried to sign Haaland. They literally cannot go into a bidding way with the likes Man City. It's impossible. Besides, I don't think Dortmund will be happy about this. He's their player but somehow his agents are negotiating a sale for them?

Laporta could honestly bankrupt Barcelona. People seem to forget that when he came in 2003 that their net debt was only 150m euros..... but when he left, it was over 450m euros. He also increased the wage bill by a lot. He's no stranger to spending big and increasing their debt if he needs to.

These pap shots / video in Barcelona is close to pantomime. Suits Barca though, and Laporta is revealing himself to being something of a card..

Raiola is no fool and neither is Alfe, they arent going to bother wasting their own time to going and sitting down with Laporta if Barca have no way of doing this deal. We aren't talking about a bunch of kids here who are going to be wowed by the Nou Camp and thank Laporta for the chance of being there.

Barca have clearly proven they have a way of putting together something that would work.

Wasn’t there a report that Laporte was getting 250m loan that would ease all there debt problem? If that’s true they could get Haaland...

ah it was this by another candidate!

Barcelona candidate Toni Freixa reveals €250M outside commitment

Barcelona presidential candidate Toni Freixa says they have an agreement with an investor to contribute €250m.

That was clearly lies to help his case win the election.

No investor is going to willingly put 250m euros into a club with the debt Barcelona has. It would be a bad investment.... especially when Barcelona doesn't have that great of a team. Also, they're years away from winning a Champions League.

Now, Laporta could sell some of their corporations to ease some of the debt, but any money going in is probably going to go bank to bank debt. Also, selling some of their corporations is kinda risky because they might not get that % back. They have to 266m euros back to the bank by June, and then they have to pay another 160m euros by the end of the year. They have over 700m euros worth of short-term debt. That short-term debt is increasing by the month because of COVID. They also have to re-sign Messi this summer, which will be expensive in the short-term and long term.

I think Laporta will leave after a few years due to all the stress of the debt. I honestly believe he doesn't know what he's got himself in for.

It's all a PR stunt. It benefits both Laporta and Haaland's agents. It also actually benefits Dortmund because it raises his value and puts pressure on other clubs to step in quickly. Barcelona can speak to all the agents they want, but they can't outbid a team like City. Dortmund is not going to lower their valuation of a player just to suit Barcelona's financial problems.

Laporta can state that he tried to sign Haaland but couldn't due to the amount of money Dortmund was asking for Haaland. It would also help his case in keeping Messi by showing he's trying to make the team competitive again. When news like goes this public, it's done for a reason. Typically, big signings are done behind closed doors with little knowledge..... and they come out nowhere. This feels very forced to benefit everyone.
