Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

I have taken my grandson to FA cup and League cup matches since he was six years old. He is now fifteen and I bought his first Citizens membership this season. The club have said he is not allowed a ticket for the "Big games" because he has no history. We didn't bother last night.
What tickets do you want? All home games are on sale to Citizens, aren't they? What do you mean the club have said "he is not allowed?"

Halifax away in the cup is up there , only about 8k at the game , but 5k City fans standing on a mudheap and climbing trees for a better view in the pissing rain , and wouldnt change a thing ,our fans appreciate what we have now far more than any Rag or Dipper
That brings back memories.

It’s not so much the classic chants that people join in with (although, contradictorily, it is the classic chants that people join in with), it’s the City chants that people really join in with most and they just happen to be classic chants.

We need some new City songs! When did it become a thing that we stopped making up songs about the club?

So far this season we’ve given Dzeko Zaba Kompany DSilva Agüero and Yaya songs a regular blast and people may join in with them once, but never a second or third time when we’ve got Walker Dias Cancelo Rodri Grealish Gundogan and Torres playing well and doing good things on the pitch that deserve recognition, They just fall dead and our singing section just sound like an away end in our home ground.

@Didsbury Dave and you have made observations on this in the past.

And on the way the singing section sings… there was a moment in the first half when SSL1 started off “Singing The Blues”, and the rest of the ground were up for joining in and started but by the time a good number got going, SSL1 were singing at 100mph and then all of a sudden stopped. So the rest of the ground stopped.

It probably sounds like I’m moaning about them, but I actually think our singing sections are great in that they do try hard and do sing a lot (apart from the middle half hour last night where they were completely silent) and there are noticeably more singers over there now with the rail seats. But the rest of the ground really do look on at SSL1 to get them going, maybe SSL1 don’t care about that and don’t mind being an away end in their own stadium, and they are very good at being like an away in their own stadium… but they haven’t learnt how to be a home singing section yet.

Slow down, stick to one song for ages, give the rest of the ground something to join in with and it will happen!

The singing section in any ground are like a front man of a band at at a gig, the rest of the crowd look onto you (and in some cases, that is literal, as some fans around the ground do sit and watch you and listen intently to you, waiting for songs to join in with)… but it has to be said, the rest of the ground need to get involved a lot more too!
For the festive period

Grealish you a merry Christmas
Grealish you a merry Christmas
Grealish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year
3 points you must win for Colin the King
Grealish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year
Oh, bring us some beers
Oh, bring us some beers
Oh, bring us some beers
And bring it right here
3 points you must win for Colin the King
Grealish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year
We won't go until we get some
We won't go until we get some
We won't go until we get some
So bring it right here
3 points you must win for Colin the King
Grealish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year
We all like our beers
We all like our beers

With all its good cheers
3 points you must win for Colin the King

I've got the same problem. I'd happily buy my two boys tickets for every game. I joined them as "Junion Cityzens" assuming that would get them ticket access but it doesn't. You have to be a "Matchday Member" and for that you have to be an adult. It's a shambles.

That's pretty disappointing to hear if you struggle to attend a 3PM game living locally, get the wife and kids involved if that helps.

The Saturday 3pm kick offs should be in highest demand as there is no TV option
But there is! A lot of young people have VPN streams and even myself have not missed a game either live or attending since Sven's days. Even early round League Cup games are possible to find. Sadly the whole dynamic has changed and it's modern clubs with their money grabbing business methodologies that have brought it on themselves.

Once upon a time there were limited TV cameras and very limited global coverage of football. Coupled with this broadband was slow and if you wanted to see live football then you had to attend. The club were very reliant on gate revenue and priced to sell out. Now it's a global business and that game last evening was available to any place on earth with an internet connection, and it was because the moneymen, in their desire to maximise revenue have whored the game around the globe to anyone who cares to pay. It's therefore should be no surprise to any of those band of out of touch idiots that run City currently that the once local fans will now take a cheaper option of watching streams, especially when City have done the absolute best to make the game inaccessible by charging king's ransoms to attend, limiting parking, complicating ticket purchase and monopolising food sales. I mean what part of their failed plan do they not see ffs!.

Oh I see, I didn't realize the junior one was different. So you can't buy a ticket with that membership?

He's done and said worse about us fans before and it annoyed some on here but the majority wouldn't care if he called us a bunch of glory hunters so it is what it is, people can only afford so much footy (time and money wise).

The match day experience for a Saturday 3pm kick off is now a full day for me, with a young lad and pregnant Wife it goes down like a lead balloon. I have to leave at 12ish to do what should be a 50 minute trip to give time to park up and get in the ground, by the time the match has finished and I've got back to the car and home it's normally between 7 and 7.30, miss seeing my Son before bed and Mrs is in a bad mood as she's knackered. Doesn't mean I'm a shit fan I just have to prioritise.

You need to find out whose been upsetting your wife. It won’t be you because your not there.

Honestly mate it happens to us all, family/work/life/money pressures means we can’t go to every game … which is a lot now we aren’t quite so shit. Anyroads I’ll be there Saturday like Pep said
