Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

Wow, Argentina’s fans have been outstanding so far in the World Cup.

They sing songs quite slowly which means more people can join in. They use drums in a good way. Loads of them stand up and bounce around.

The flags/shirts/scarves waving looks amazing.
They keep it simple, with good, loud, effective rhythm.

We should capture some of these anthems....and get Zabba as the songmaster/cappo.

Whilst we’re on the subject of poor support.

Let’s be honest, England’s (FOC) support was sh*t tonight. I think the first England chant was 15 minutes into the game. The next chant was on the 23rd minute. And so on. Compare that to the Argentinian support last night, which was constant across the whole stadium and throughout the game.

England have a good young away following who are into beer, sniff and a fight to thier detriment, but they do make some noise and get behind the team. Unfortunately most can’t afford the cost of the flights and hotels. Some people would say thankfully.

Maybe City should invite a few Senegalese supporters over. On the terraces 2 hours before kick off, chanting, dancing, bongo drums and a brass band playing throughout the game. :-)

The Argentina support has been excellent but a big difference is that hundreds of Argentine ultras are being paid to get the atmosphere going at every game. Yea some of the Senegalese fans are tremendous.

England’s support has been bang average in comparison.

You can see the Ultras stood up at the front of the stand behind the goal leading the chanting throughout the game. They’ve also brought their instruments, which every Argentinian club fan base has.(on Instagram, etc) The Ultras aside, all the other Argentina fans in every part of the stadium also join in with the chanting, jumping up and down, waving their arms in the air, and waving their shirts and tops in the air.

You think loads of our lot are going to take off & wave shirts in the air at this time of year in Manchester?.....it's not Newcastle you know.

Let’s hope the south stand’s clap clap clap clap clapping gets drowned out by the rest of the ground singing City songs tomorrow. As usual, the first five minutes will set the tone.

Give it a rest Dave! We’re all in this together tomorrow night. Now isn’t the time to create fractious comments.

Rather than belittling the South stand supporters, where most of City’s match support comes from, get behind them, and encourage them to support City throughout the match, regardless of how they do It.

If you all remember, our previous games against the Scousers at the Etihad have always produced great atmospheres, especially the CL match after they trashed the City coach before the first leg match at Anfield.

That Chelsea game was dreadful atmosphere-wise. I suspect tomorrow will be the same.

And it's all to do with the seating location of the away fans.

No it won’t.

The crowd will be different. The criteria was 3 games. Now it’s 1 game To shift the remaining tickets. The majority of fans will be season ticket holders and regular matchday goers.

115 tickets left! The match will sell out by tomorrow.

The game when we beat them 2-1 was an unbelievable atmosphere, as good as anything I can remember in my 50 years of watching the blues.
