Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

I was just thinking Forest myself. Plus Burnley in the Cup and I thought Newcastle fans fans were good… other than that every set of away fans have been poor at the Etihad this season.

This was United’s away end on about 70 minutes:

Both of them were shite, the two worst sets of fans at our stadium this season.

Wasn't at Newcastle as was at a mates wedding so can't comment on that game.

Burnley were in good voice but similar to Forest (novelty factor and getting a bigger cup allocation) so would be disappointed it they weren't.

Just been to the supermarket as Arsenal were 2 up in my 80's City tracksuit top and some dipper came over and said 'I take it you know the score?'. Told me it was 2-2 and Saka missed a pen. Only just checked the score now as didn't want to look beforehand and jinx it. Hahaha. So fucking childish.

Not as weird as them singing “champions of England, you’ll never sing that” at the home of the champions of England.

I thought that was my hearing. Hahaha. Current reigning champions and only won it an additional 7 times to them. All their fanbase must be on the spectrum.

Wasn’t that their Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha chant where they sing, ‘Champions of England, You made us sing that’ in this song?:

‘Vichai had a dream, He bought us a football team, He came from Thailand and now he’s one of our own, We play from the back and counter attack, Champions of England, You made us sing that’.

That would make more sense. Maybe they’re not as daft as I thought.

Yes

The above aside.

Bar the quiet periods after the 3 goals when City began playing the 1st half out, and after Leicester took control of the match after Pep made the substitutions, I thought the atmosphere was very good, especially during the 2nd half period of support.

A big shout out to blocks 111,110 and 109. Thought you were great yesterday. Just like the good old days in there. Great to hear and see. I could hear you from SSL1, and the loudness of your chants were picked up by SSL1 and carried on. It just shows the chants and noise does travel when enough people join in the singing. Top banter with the Leicester fans as well.

Even though the Poznan was a little disjointed at first, it looked great when it reached the North stand and everyone joined in from there onwards.

SSL1 were loud when they got going.

Credit to the Leicester fans with the banter and doing the Poznan after they scored.

In a nutshell, I really enjoyed yesterdays atmosphere.

PS. The youth were at it again in the corner of the new bar area at the back of SSL1. Staying there after the 2nd half started and singing ”follow you everywhere”. Great to hear and see. Picture to follow.
The atmosphere was great on Saturday - don't know what the naysayers are on about

Yesterday was a weird one - really good for the first half hour and for part of the second half. It died either side of it, certainly in SSL3.

Leicester fans can get to fuck though, shushing and singing that awful championship level library chant within a minute of the singing stopping. Wouldn’t mind there was mostly about a hundred of them singing in the top tier.
Some of them fucked off home after we scored our 3rd. Fannies

Living in Leicester and with a couple of work colleagues who go Leicester home and away, I can tell you that they thought the place was rocking at various times during the match and that their own support was shite. They also think the Asahi beer is top class.

Oh, and they've nicked our "we never win at home and we never win away" chant.

Happy clapping cunts.

New tune I heard and I thought the chorus could work great for a new chant. Could keep the "Can't let go, it's chemical" bit, which would be a nice way to say I could never let go of my addiction to City

I'm sure there are more creative folks on here who could come up with the words for the chant.

To the best fans in the land and all the world.

Wednesday is the day to give a bit extra. Get in the pub an hour earlier. Get to your seat half an hour earlier. Sing louder than usual. Stay till the very end.

I've got a few arsenal mates at work, who rekon it's gonna be quiet. I've just told them to be ready, cause they're in for a real nasty surprise when they see what the Etihad is like when it gets going.

So let's boo them whenever they're on the ball, and cheer whenever they lose the ball. Let's roar the lads to victory.

My official prediction given what a great time it is to be a city fan and how decent we've been recently, is that we'll see the best atmosphere the Etihad has ever seen.

Bed time for me. UP THE FUCKING BLUES!

Some Football fans can be such deluded clowns when talking about City. The roof will be coming off the place.

Spot on. A repeat of the hostile atmosphere against Liverpool in January 2019 will do just fine

Exactly this, let’s blow the roof off, not just this one but for all our remaining games this season, boo & whistle every time they are in possession & every refereeing decision they get, let’s not have those nervous quiet periods we seem to get especially in the first half or go a goal down. Also Zincs and Jesus give them a clap during their warm up before kick off, but during the team announcement at kick off boo every one of their players making sure to boo those two out of the friggin stadium.
