Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

So apparently Arsenal,s atmosphere is fantastic ??? Been pretty much toxic there the last decade .

And they are going to win fuck all this season…….

Hmmm

We focus too much on song choice here. Songs are only a tiny fraction of what makes a decent 'atmosphere'.

Although I agree with the logic of what Didsbury Dave says, there are no excuses for blues in the other three stands who sit on their hands and go silent. You can boo, cheer, whistle, shout, wave a scarf, bring a flag, clap your hands, stand up, go mad when we score etc...

The best atmosphere we've had at the Etihad was against Liverpool in 2019 and we barely sang anything.

Just put your phone down and make a racket!
Init literally just open your mouth in any fucking way!! Or even whistle or anything

Why doesn't everybody else just learn the words to the new songs so they can join in? I don't get to any away games anymore but that's what I did.
'Ederson and Ake
Walker and Akanji
Ruben Dias, Johnny Stones
Best defence in Europe
We're Manchester City
On our way to Istanbul...
Woah we're the boys in blue
Woah coming after you'

Love this one (to the tune of Rhythm is a Dancer) would be great to hear catch on outside the SS as Follow and Everywhere are starting to

Great chant mate and agreed. Just find it hard to believe/strange that fans in other parts of the ground don't want to sing along to the new songs we have as they're all brilliant.

Correct.

Not to mention swathes of empty seats. Which was never mentioned.

Arsenal's atmosphere has always been poor at the Emirates bar for the big games. You could always hear a pin drop during most of their home games. And their chant catalogue consisted of Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal and a couple more chants

The atmosphere at Arsenal has improved this season due to Arsenal challenging for the PL title. And because of Arsenal's group of young Ultras, numbering less than 50, at the front of the end next to the away fans.

Saying that, the atmosphere at Arsenal isn't a patch on the atmosphere at the Etihad as a rule.

Have just banged up a songs thread to keep track of all our chants so any Blue Mooners who want to know the words can find them in one place. Fill your boots Blues.

I said their atmosphere has been fantastic THIS SEASON. Not the past decade it's been shite. Anyone who went to Emirates back in February can back me up on this.

Anyone would have a good atmosphere with the exciting season they've had. I don't know why people are so in denial about this.

A few people have said that but that's not how it was against Liverpool. The whole stadium was singing proper songs which urged the team on all game. This to me shows the disconnect between the singing sections and the rest of the stadium.

I keep saying it but the rise of I'll Follow You Everywhere and now, even worse, the Rythmn is a Dancer one, has happened just at the wrong time this season. 90% of the crowd don't know the words and also they aren't songs which provide encouragement. They totally killed it on Sunday and last WEdnesday. They were sung constantly and the rest of the ground gave up. You just aren't going to get old blokes in the Colin Bell and East Stand singing them.

It doesn't matter if they are brilliant or not. They only work on concourses or away games. Old guys, touritsts, kids, casual fans in the Colin Bell and East Stand don't know them and won't sing them. Not until they've got established anyway.

Those two new songs are going to kill the Wembley atmosphere for the final too I'm afraid.

Nobody is in denial.

Arsenal have been top of the league for most of the season.

They have won numerous matches in the last few minutes.

They have scored plenty of goals.

But for them to say there's no atmosphere at the Etihad, and they have a better atmosphere at the Emirates, is utterly laughable.

I personally think that a lot of our atmospheres sound good in the first half and then often when the game appears to be won in the second as we thought it was on Saturday until Leeds late rally, it dies off. When that happens the opposition start with their we’re getting beat but we’re going to be defiant chants and by the end of the game that’s what is fresh in people’s memory. I’m in SSL3 and we out sang Leeds in the first half up there but they considerably out sang us in the second half, a similar thing happened against Villa and Arsenal but not to the same extent. I do think we have a tendency to sit back and relax when a game appears to be won.
Fair points. I'm probably not alone though in being consistently surprised at the comments in this thread. I get home from every game and have a read in here and it's mostly negative comments. I've been to every game at home this season and feel like since the PL allegations (the turning point) the atmosphere has been great, obviously not for 90 minutes of every game but generally hugely improved on precious seasons. I love the new songs and I also love seeing the family stand regularly getting the Poznan going plus joining in with all the old classics. Not sure what everybody's issue is on here, can only think they're watching on tele and relying on the sparsely distributed or totally turned down microphones of Sly/BT sports to gauge how good the atmosphere is. Far away from a true reflection
