The trend in supermarkets is to downsize. I don't read their financial reports but I know from the press reports about Sainsbury's and Tescos results / trading statements that they reckon they have too much floor space and are reducing the number of large store openings and concentrating on medium or smaller stores.

which if any supermarkets have downsized by either closing floor space or selling up i cant think of one, the only trend with supermarkets is snapping up smaller plots in towns to build express stores which generally work on a higher profit margin from the superstore, so the trend actually being there increasing outlets

has this ASDA takeover been confirmed by city, i noticed that ASDA are taking on full time staff for the Eastlands store, why would they do that when they are going to move

Are you sure they have been taken on as full time staff,or could it be for the Christmas rush and as like our local store they take temp labour on ?

yes they were offering full time contracts at the Eastlands store on there website, my Mrs works for them and has heard nothing of the club buying the unit

That's an old pic of Platt Lane I think, rather than the CFA. They've used it before

Good spot. MCFC not giving anything away as regards the new training academy.

Anyone know if there is going to be a big public opening when CFA is ready go, seems like an ideal opportunity for some positive publicity for a change.

Am I missing something here? why do people think we are going to open our new training ground in a blaze of publicity? As wonderful as it is and as good as the facilities are, at the end of the day it's a training ground. City aren't the only club building a world class training ground and if was Spurs/Southampton/Leicester I wouldn't be interested in watching it so I wouldn't expect likewise.

It's open already, the players have been training there for the last week and half at least, the club use the same butcher as my work and the driver was telling me he saw vinny and lampard last week and Pellers a few more players this week warming up.

As for ASDA me brother was doing some work up at there distribution warehouse and was told that they supply eastlands but not much longer as it's shutting down and moving to ancoats

What you're apparently missing is any enthusiasm for your own club. The bridge is/has had an opening do why the hell wouldn't a £100-200 million (whatever the sum is) training/stadium development have an official opening?
