Well at least they’re proposing some things. City do nothing. OVG are looking at shuttle buses to and from the arena. A number of us have been saying City should put these on for years (well before the Sheikh even came to us!)Early stage transport plans.
Genuinely think this arena will be transformational for the area. They will need to do work on Transport infrastructure but this arena could bring an extra 50 thousand people to the area every week. Enough to support a whole range of food and drink outlets etc. The elephant in the room re the Transport infrastructure is the inadequacy of the Metro link - do wonder whether that’s something that needs serious investigation and investment.
Does anyone know, perhaps Prestwich Blue, if we can count revenue from this venue towards football club income (and help with FFP). Presumably this development will make it easier for us to generate corporate income from joint football/music packages, especially if we build a hotel and attract more tourists. We could also use the indoor venue to sell food and drink to City fans on match days ( a sort of deluxe box park set-up). The venue will actually be joined to the main stadium North Stand won't it? This could be a huge advantage for us against our commercial rivals, especially the Rags. What about joint season tickets for music and football? It looks like a game-changer for us.I think so too, perhaps coming to fruition later than originally anticpated but it was mentioned on here the whole development was a 30 year plan. Everything seems to be lined up in place and this lot seem to be the real deal (Oak). Fantastic for the area and, longer term, for the city (as the city expands in this direction). Agree about the transport too...
Wonder if we’ll ever get a new ‘best in the world’ stadium where the athletics ground currently is? (Probably not)
no but I’ve been to the swamp and Goodison in recent weeks and our ground is fantastic in comparison.
