The idea that intellects such as Stan Colleymore's are capable of understanding the work and idea of the Sheikh and his advisers must have us holding our sides. In the early days of 2008-9 I got the distinct impression that the Sheikh was one step ahead of the game - now I believe he is at least ten steps ahead of UEFA and the football "establishment". That's the fate of deep-thinking analysts who get their opinions from the tabloids like you, Stan - the Sheikh leaves them miles behind.

PS Did my eyes deceive me, or did I see loads of empty seats at "the Lane" for the clash of the giants between Spurs and Everton on Sky today? Explanation please, Mr Colleymore!

Course not. Everybody knows it's only our ground where you get empty seats - loads of united fans said so.

Final set from today.

Mini Etihad with cladding being added, plus bridge supports.

Part of the wooden hoardings have now been replaceb by metal barriers on Alan Turing Way, meaning you can see the stadium and construction work close up. :-)

Couple of duplicates.

Wish people would stop worrying whether all the seats will be filled after expansion,we need to have the extra capacity in place to move forward.A empty seat doesn't cost the club anything but is a source of revenue with a bum on it,Barcelona sell out the nou camp about twice a season and recently had 36k for a copa del ray game that's a third full. Its all about global perception of us and if we are to be one of European footballs big boys expansion is a must.

Aye, great pics jrb.
The silver/grey looks far better than the blue would have done I feel. May have ended up looking like a NHS clinic in Doncaster (no offence!). Had the air of my asthma inhaler.
Looks great in this grim arse winter...imagine on a balmy summer evening during a champions league game (broadcast around the world via a sky blimp cam).

I do find this interesting re: UFC

I never knew UFC started in Manchester and the last line on the description below is intriguing.

It didn't start in Manchester.

They came to Manchester in October which was the UFC's 20th anniversary.

Interesting he has the badge on a UFC top. Is he involved with the UFC in anyway or Garry Cook still?

Our owner is part of Flash Entertainment which owns 10% of the UFC.

They had an event in Abu Dhabi about 4 years ago where an outside arena was built at the Ferrari world site for just one night.

They're going back there in April this year I think.<br /><br />-- Sun Feb 09, 2014 10:22 pm --<br /><br />

But UFC have a big future ? I think not...popularity is decrease over and over.

I prefer Disney.

The UFC decreasing? Hardly.

Great pics jrb. It really is beginning to take shape now.

Some of them pics actually look like renders from an artists impression. The bridge supports look quite sleek and the cladding looks great. Can't wait to see how far it's come on again on Wednesday... I park right at the back of the CFA site now so have a good look as I'm walking to the ground.

Amazing to think what was on that land when I was a nipper (Steel works and colliery), not to mention when I used to visit Clayton Aniline with work... and how far we and the area have come since we moved there. Fantastic for Manchester and game changing for the club and the sport in this country...

Great innit?

-)

Who is Collymore kidding?

Everton?????? Spurs??? Both could fill a 62,000 capacity stadium on a regular basis. Of course they could Stan, you absolute.......(fill in as appropriate)

By the way Stan. Both are linked. Larger stadium, bigger revenues, better players, more success on the pitch. Doh!

Now f*** off back to the Black Country and concentrate on staying on the straight and narrow.

Physical violence in any form is never an excuse or acceptable.

Go easy, Stan suffers from depression.

Still can't understand why that cladding isn't sky blue. Swear there was a picture of it previously and it was. Only a small thing I know!!

Was discussed earlier - there was a picture of some full-sized mock-up walling they made in blue. It was rejected because the colour fades over less time than you might think, apparently.

This, it looks horribly plastic in no time at all.. Where as grey just stays grey

Just noticed this on the MCC website - <a class="postlink" href="http://pa.manchester.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=LLE44PBC6K000" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://pa.manchester.gov.uk/online-appl ... 44PBC6K000</a>

Seems we're adding new doors to the new club shop, or is that new doors to both new ends of the stadium? ;)

Okay cheers for that

(off topic I know but..)
Hi, I am a student doing an extended project on the question ‘Has football lost touch with its roots?’ ‘Roots’ are whatever you want them to be, but I was curious of your thoughts on the following areas:
• Demographics and pricing.
• The foundations and original form of fanship.
• New style of fanship.
• The running of teams as clubs or businesses.
• The effects of broadcasting.
Your thoughts would be much valued as I would like to be able to represent your views in my exploration of the topic. Cheers!
