F.A. to have Wayne Rooney Testimonial Match

I hear they've started recruiting the cheerleaders in recognition of his achievements

Great minds lol

What happens if he scores a couple of goals? Will there be some weird clamour to get him back in the side.

It’s pathetic.

Glenn Murray is much more worthy of a cap than this has been. I hope all our players get "injuries" before the game, (then are back refreshed and ready), its an absolute farce, and I've lost respect for Southgate for letting this take place. It honestly wouldn't shock me if he was recalled for Euro 2020, or even the next World Cup to give 'Wayne one last shot at glory for his country, because he really deserves it y'know, he's been so loyal, and so appreciative of the fans'. The commentary is going to be absolutely nauseating; we'll either have Crimson Clive with a chance to scream ROOONEY! one last time, or Martin Tyler, 'Rooney, is it in the script, is it in the stars?' when he waddles out on to the pitch. What a joke.

Great that the money goes to charity , not so great that it goes to the Rooney foundation and the fact that the lions share of the money will go to the MUFC foundation , Alder Hey (Liverpool) and Claires House (Wirral) its wrong , if the F.A. want to play a friendly and donate the money to charity that is a great gesture , but why involve Rooney ?

Some hints this morning that the FA realise what a monumental cock-up this is.

Now the suggestion is he will play a token 5 minutes, still wrong.

Not going to watch and hope they get a piffling crowd, but as Southerners have the Scum as their first or second team it will not happen.

Jimmy please explain what money will go to a charity or foundation.

The FA are not giving a penny to Rooney’s Charity.
Nowt.
No gate receipts.
Nothing.
They are allowing a bucket collection outside the ground, selling shirts and arranging a dinner.
That’s all.

According to the Times today.
