Fabian Delph

I know football isn't played on paper but if you look specifically at signings over the last few years we are starting to fall behind. Next season I expect our 3 main title rivals to be the chavs, gooners and rags and if you compare their recruitment to ours it does not make for good reading.

Arsenal - Cech, Ozil, Cazorla, Sanchez

Chelsea - Courtois, Matic, Fabregas, Hazard, Costa

Scum - Valdes, Herrera, Blind, Schweinsteiger, Depay, Van Persie

and then compare it to our transfer dealings

City - Caballero, Fernando, Navas, Rodwell, Sincalir, Delph

I don't think we have signed a world class player since Aguero and it looks like once again next season we are going to rely on the Kompany/Touré/Silva/Aguero spine to carry us through. It's one thing to have a world class core but you have to supplement it with other top class players that improve your starting 11 and the only signing that falls into that category is Fernandinho. 1 signing in the last 3 years.

Delph is a decent signing IF he's just the start but if the 'Big 3' (Pogba, De Bruyne, Sterling) fall through which is possible then we have to be careful because other teams are catching us up and soon we won't have that famous world class core to rely on anymore.

Look, you can't name all the best players other teams have signed but not name ours. You missed out Fernandinho and Bony, who are very good players. But, having said that, we're still 4th on that list of players signed.

It's quite scary really. I would have taken Matic, Fabregas, Hazard, Sanchez, Schweinsteiger (what a signing he would be)and Depay.

I know we were hampered by FFP last summer, but the list of players we've signed is pretty awful - arguably worse than Spurs/Southampton.

Sterling and KDB will add quality and pace/trickery. My worry is centre midfield, and I'm not sure Pogba's the answer - Delph isn't either BUT he does add much needed effort/legs, and he is a solid player, very handy in certain situations.

It's an improvement on Fernando ..i think the kid might do alright for us in the same way Milner did, just in the middle

We're haggling over the matter of £5m with hedge fund sociopaths for Sterling and competing with the European Champions for Pogba.

I very much hope they sign because we need to stop shuffling the pack and start improving the first 11.

Ah, you are aware we are trying to improve the first eleven then. It's just that the crock of shit you have written earlier led me to believe that you thought
Delph was this windows star attraction.

My mistake.

Some of the comments on here make me sad, wonder if people would be so negative if he was Argentinian.

All I've said is that he isn't good enough and is being signed to fill a quota. We'll see if I'm right over the course of the season.

You've also said he can't pass when the stats say you're talking bollocks.

You don't understand that he can allow other players to be rested before big CL games.

You've said he will be found out against Chelsea when he was excellent against both U.S. and Chelse.

And you've said that other teams only sign first team guaranteed starters.

There's a bizarre hatred of English players amongst fans, particularly plastics. Twitter is full of these kind of "fans".

Hahahaha, Delph can't pass a ball.

You ever watched him play mate?

His passing is better than Fernando and around the same as Fernandinho. Can none of them pass either?

Indeed, he has a very good long range pass.

I've followed his career since Leeds and was gutted we didn't get him prior to his stint at Villa.

Still, we almost have him now and, perhaps, Villa was a good move since he has developed further.

Nobody has shown me any stats.

Rodwell, Garcia and Fernando were bought in to allow others to rest, yet we've gone backwards over the last 3 years.

It does seem so, first the Managers had to be foreign and now the players, it will get to a stage where people won't buy a match programme unless the sellers name is Miguel, Seosa.

Top clubs don't buy bench players to add squad depth. They buy top players to improve their first 11, which in turn moves a previous starter to the bench.

This bollocks bolded above is from you is it not ?

The article was posted the page before you said he couldn't pass.

How did we go backwards in Pellers first season?

Yeah, and it certainly isn't bollocks.

I didn't see Real purchasing a second-tier player from Real Betis to give Isco and Bale a rest, they bought James Rodriguez.

We've been shuffling the pack for three years and have gone backwards. It really is that simple.

Great signing for the money. Welcome Delph, will be cheering for you whenever you play for us.

Was hoping we would get him when he left Leeds. Now he has had the time and exposure to develop at villa I think that now is a great time to sign him.

Fully expect him to take part (in some form) in over 25+ games next season.

Good luck new blue.

I'm starting to think you're that simple.

We got 89 points in 11/12 and haven't got that many since. We haven't improved in Europe, we have simply had easier group stage draws.

Agree with the first two sentences, you should always sign top class players who demote others to the bench, in turn raising competition, if we sign players in the next idea of them being squad players, I struggle to see how it motivates them.

Gone so far backwards that we had a double winning season last year. Anyhow, you have just reiterated that you think we are not a top club
so there is little point in discussing anything with you. It's not fucking Fifa15 or whatever it's called.
