Favourite cars that were achievable by people who weren't rich

I always wanted one of these when I first learnt to drive. I think this is the best of the MR2 shapes they did

I seem to recall that there was a quite different looking second version, more curvy, but also with softer suspension so the white one in the picture, the original, was the better sports car.

My first car was a Datsun 160B Bluebird.
I had just passed my test and needed some wheels. The previous owner had expired about three months earlier and his widow wanted shut off it. My colleague was her neighbour and he put me onto it. The car was a complete rust bucket that stunk of mould , it was as if he was still in the car in his corpse state. It could shift though all for the princely sum of £30 in 1982.
Can remember my dad having one of those back in the 70s when i was a nipper but it was an SSS model, it even had an 8 track player.

Nice looking car (shame its red) 232000 miles is that still on the original engine or has it been rebuilt/replaced?
The only red thing I own !
Error on MOT .... the 'mileage' is actually KMs, still on the original engine.
So whats that around 150,000 miles over 33 years or just under 3000 miles per year. (first 10 years driven in Japan).
Cost 695.00 in 2010, i guess ive spent couple of grand over that time on a few shiny bits.

Sounds like a good car, I had a low milage minter in british racing green a few years ago & have always regretted selling it, They really do drive well & probably the best value sports convertible you can get?,
I have a Saab 9-3 non turbo convertible at the moment (cheap as chips) but its a bit slow & shakey compared to a Mx5 :-)
