he probably wants to be more of a regular 1st eleven player than he is, and that wont happen here. sell now before he goes for free.

big question if we do the same with Sterling as well as I dont think we should award him a big 300K+ contract for him.

We have won FA Cups at your expense. Were totally irrelevant:)

And your right, were not going to go and sign a next level striker. Martinelli down the middle is the topic of discussion at Arsenal. Can he follow up the footsteps of Henry and RVP and make the conversion form wide player to striker. I really hope Arteta explores that avenue.
You haven’t won a league title for 18 seasons and haven’t qualified for the CL for the last 5 seasons. The definition of irrelevant

I think there is a lot of wishful thinking in this. We (unfortunately) work with a small squad, so it depends on proven players to take up the roles. It’s very easy for us to come here and say “I think Palmer is ready!” (you can replace Palmer for McAtee, Delap and even Alvarez), but the reality is they are unproven, it is an entirely different story to think Pep will actually put as much faith without seeing them in action again and again. Maybe with another manager it would be a different story, or maybe if we had a larger squad. How many times in match day threads you saw frustration from people saying that in an easy game Pep should have used the youth more? It’s simple: You can’t expect a player unproven at top level to take a big role — even if you think they could be ready

Think the games palmer has played for pep he has proved he is trusted just the injury has kept him out the side.

Got to agree with you mate. Look at Arteta's signings so far, they were heavily criticised in the summer there, but he's been working to a plan of young players that fit a system rather than star names like the rags do.

Jesus might not be a top class finisher as of yet, but he is a hard working all round forward that can score goals. He'll know exactly the type of system Arteta is trying to play, and even if he is just another cog in making us a more cohesive pressing unit, then that will improve us from where we are currently.

@friendlygooner, I'm surprised you are turning you nose up to Jesus yet talk about DCL who has had an even worse season and will be double the price. I say that as someone who believes we might sign DCL as well as Jesus.
Spot on

For 30m it can work. But we would also need to sign a second striker to compete with him. Unlike this sentiment that if we were to sign him the red carpet would be rolled out, and that we Arsenal fans would be shitting out pants with excitement having signed Gabriel Jesus. Were not talking Sergio Aguero here
You would need a second striker to compete but I think he would do very well for you if given games. I’m sure he’ll have his choice of suitors particularly around £30M if that’s accurate...

I wouldn’t look at it by lumping 5 positions together like that. I also am expecting this to be the summer of refreshing the squad like Pep anticipated last summer and didn’t come about. It’s about time. Does Sterling leave, does Mahrez leave, does Gundogan leave… does Bernardo leave? We don’t know and the club would certainly try its best not to leak anything right now. There is certainly at least one slot for another senior forward with Jesus leaving, and that’s even with Pep’s small squad mentality
I guess we’ll see but my guess is Pep won’t want a big churn of players in one summer and if only one of the forwards leave then we won’t get any more forwards in apart from the 2 anticipated. If 2 leave then we may get one more in.
As I say we’ll have to wait and see.

18 years. Bloody hell.

Ajax want 50 million euros for Antony. Could be a good replacement for Jesus

The English tax was in effect with White. We knew we were overpaying for him. White also had 3 years left on his Brighton deal when we signed him. Gabriel apparently has only one year left after this season & is apparently surplus to requirements at City.
You won't be the only club in for him so I think hell be more than £30m

Mbappe and Haaland?

Yeah, people just don't watch them week in week out.

You can bet your arse people will be getting frustrated with Haaland the second he stops banging them in and has a rough patch.

Kev is the best midfielder on the planet and he's already been deemed "finished" by the great minds of bluemoon on several occasions.

We're all watching these players every week and many are prone to getting frustrated because they totally overplay their shortcomings.

Definitely. Scared of him at the rags

Only question I've got with Antony is that he's a bit of a loose cannon. I don't know if that translates to professionalism or being a difficult personality to work with but he fairly consistently walks the line during matches.

Wonderful player and I'd be concerned if he went to any league rival but I do think he's a bit immature and is incredibly easy to wind up.

I asked you this the other day. Do you not think Palmer is ready to take the next step?

I just don't see Pep throwing him in next season. I think he will get minutes but i think Pep would want a more proven player with more first team games under them. To come in and replace Jesus whos a big asset to our side.

I think Palmer will get the foden treatment a few games here and there sub appearances, until pep thinks he's ready to start games.

I’m not very good with Portuguese but I think I heard him say “I’m not going to a club supported by entitled cunts who boo their own players, managers and ex players, and who are supported by a “celebrity“ **** who thinks it’s acceptable to make racist anti-Arab rants”. At least that’s what I think he said

Four yellow cards this season for Ajax, nothing extraordinary imo. Yes he is young and has a passionate attitude sometimes, but nothing that scares me. Neymar at the same age was much worse for instance. I’ve also never heard any complaints about his professionalism or relationships within the dressing room.
