Gas & Electricity

what happens to all the rich people everywhere who's bill is much more than £2500 per year anyway?

some in big houses will pay a small fortune anyhow, what happens to them
They’ll pay much more.

The cap basically limits the cost of a KWH that was forecast to be 52p to about 35p for electricity and about 10p for gas.

Well ...that's what their quote said. I'm not a contracts expert
If they used the word penanlty they can't enfocre it, as it would be reasonable to assume it is a penalty.

I very much doubt they would say it is a penalty in writting though.

Just tried to do another quote to see exactly what it said and do a screen shot but their site isn't allowing any now. I assume due to current events.

This is British Gas by the way. Whatever the wording they used it was a £200 charge to leave the contract.

edit -

What are exit fees and will I have to pay them?

If you’re on a fixed rate tariff, you may be asked to pay an exit fee to leave your contract early. If you’re not sure, you can find out by checking the terms and conditions for your tariff by logging in to your account online. This fee doesn’t apply if you leave us within the final 49 days/ seven weeks of the fixed rate tariff.

Thanks ,have them in the hall and kitchen but the bedroom has a low energy traditional bulb
Still won’t cost you much but LED’s do last longer as well. It’s sad and disturbing people are so afraid of the Energy increases they are making these radical changes. Winter will be be shockingly expensive.
