Just reading the unpopular City opinions thread and came across a discussion about Sir David Silva & his incredible performance against Hull in the title run-in back in 2013/14. We were down to 10 from early on & David carried us, with that said I’ve remembered some others from the top of my head:

City 2-1 Ipswich 1999: Weaver, those who were there will know what I mean, not 100% that was the score but some of the saves…
City 3-1 Birmingham 2001: Benarbia debut
City 3-1 Red Shite 2002: Goater last MR Derby
City 1-0 Stretford 2007: Micah @ 18 keeping them at bay
City 0-0 Dippers 2007: Dunne, wouldn’t be beaten that night
Chelsea 2-4 City: Tevez, back from a flight day of
Swamp Dwellers 1-6 City 2011: David Silva

So many to remember in recent years, but we’re much more of a team collective machine now so don’t get the standout performances as much. Would be good to delve into the Bell era etc for peoples memories.

I've just come onto this thread to post my favourite and I don't really need to post as you've put mine above - Benarbia at Birmingham. I was lucky enough to be there in amongst the Birmingham fans. It was a new dawning for me, the bloke was just fucking sublime. I didn't celebrate any of our goals as I bloody couldn't, but I remember a Brummie fan below me saying 'we're 10 years behind this football'. It was a fucking great night.

Oh, but Yaya v Newcastle was absolutely pivotal.

The 1-1 at their place when Anelka had a winner disallowed. He ran the whole game.

That was the game that turned it around for Demichellis. Prior to that he had been a bit of a liability and we all feared the worse for the defence when Kompany was sent off but he marshaled the defence and stepped up and from that point to the end of the season he was decent

Javi Garcia had a really good game alongside him

There was one game at home, think it was Norwich (or could have been Chelsea) and it was 0-0 with maybe 10 mins left.
Tevez was immense and ran the show, kept running at them and eventually got the wiinner.

Just thought of another, Kev at home to Stoke in the 7-2, if Pep hadn't decided to declare by taking him off with 15 or so minutes left we would have scored ten at least.

Yes he was superb in that game. Such a shame the Anelka goal was disallowed

How about Denis Law in the cup ,I think it was Luton ,scored all six if I remember rightly ,then game abandoned because of a waterlogged pitch,we obviously ,predictably lost in the rearranged game 3-2.
The last ten years have had just so many wonderful games V.K. don't shoot,Serge 93'20 ,Merlin everytime he touched the ball, KDB, ,sorry, getting lost in reveries, as with all Blues City have given so many memories,and been a great backdrop to our lives.

Denis scored in the replay too. Seven in the tie but on the losing side. 6 goals wiped off his record.

As mentioned, think it was the 1-1 and Veron (who I rated very highly) was playing, but I remember the rag I was with at the time saying “if you were told there was a £28 million player playing, you’d say without question it was Berkovic”, amd you would, he was utterly awesome.

One performance that stands out for me, and was only 45 minutes unfortunately because it was the tail end of his career, was Ali’s against Newcastle in the first half, it was just world class, gutted we never got to see more of him in his prime , reckon Pep would have loved him.

It's a good call. His two goals were crucial. Was he outstanding in the rest of the game, though? Genuine question, I really can't remember. I only remember hiding behind the sofa (figuratively speaking, I was in the pub for that one). I was terrified of that match. I felt that we'd unconsciously relax after the huge effort against United, and throw away having clawed back those eight points.
