Done it a few times but the scariest was Sheffield Utd away. We managed to force a door open at the back of the stand to get out.Did this one time at Sunderland in the early 80s. Drew 0-0, kept in the ground for ages, could see the police trying to move Sunderland away from our exits eventually they moved them on. Once outside I lost my mates in the crowd, most headed to the station and coaches, I had to keep walking straight ahead towards the docks, turned a corner and a couple of hundred Mackems walking towards me, I walked across the road hoping they hadn't seen me cross, next thing they all crossed to.my side, I was absolutely bricking it at this point. I had to either cross again, or walk through them, I decided to cross, they all passed me without doing or saying anything. I know a few of them must have seen me cross twice, but left me alone. Always liked them after that. If they had been rags or scouse, I have no doubt I would have taken a real beating.
It was at the height of the miners strike, and City had been taking the piss during the match with Scargill chants etc.
Anyway a few of us ended up in the middle of their mob as we tried to get back to the car, and my mate the thick **** decided to open his mouth, it was right outside the away end nobody heard him with all the shouting going on, but it was a very lucky escape. We'd have been slaughtered if we'd have been sussed.
