In-swinging corner kicks more dangerous?

Last season, City's Analysis team told Bobby that in-swingers are more dangerous, which is why there was eventually a change in City's corner taking. This season, we have reverted to using out-swingers more often than I would have expected.
I'm pretty sure it was the other way round, something due t the ball moving towards the defender where as with out-swingers the ball is moving towards the attacker.

Well you would be wrong and I would be right. Try reading this article and you will find what I was referring to.

In fact, every City supporter should read the article if they have never seen it before.

Someone mentioned van persie.. I find his corners and crosses better than his finishing. He's not specially clinical finisher at all but his corners and crosses are quality.

This has been my pet hobby horse for years now. United are the ultimate percentages team, with corners and crossing serving as a constant get out of jail free card for them, whenever they're playing shit. 20 headed goals this season, including 5 for that midget Evra, tells its own story. Van Persie is just the latest in a long line of individuals to be drilled at Carrington to within an inch of their lives (although in his case, he has the necessary technique down naturally) in the art of hitting whipped, flat, vicious in swinging deliveries that take away all of a defender's natural advantages. And because the deliveries are so accurate, hit across the edge of the 6 yard box, their forwards are able to gamble endlessly as to where the ball will end up, before it's even been hit. Beckham, Giggs, Olsen, Ronaldo, Valencia, Young, Evra, Rooney, even Gary fucking Neville, they could all do it in their sleep. I actually think though that Van Persie is the best of the lot. His corners in particular are pure evil, tantamount to shots in the way they arc back in and dip.
I don't necessarily advocate City trying to emulate united's playing style, but even if we prefer not to play with wingers, I don't see why we should eschew the tactic altogether. City's crossing has actually improved this season, but it's still a sick joke compared to many of our competitors. Kolarov is probably our only natural exponent of the art, although Milner has shown signs of having the technique required, but Silva, Zab and Nasri specialise only in floaty shite, and don't even get me started on Clichy. One of our most consistently excellent players and yet conversely one of our most consistently awful crossers

Agree with every single word of this.

Me too. Part of it is down to the fact that Spanish Dave is seemingly incapable of hitting the ball hard. We need someone with Elano-esque set piece talent without the Elano-esque attitude.

Joey Barton is the last player for city who i can recall, who could deliver a decent corner.

He used to just float them around the penalty spot, not too close to the keeper and also not enough flight on it for the keeper to come out and collect.

Richards, Dunne and Distin just used to run onto them and attack them.

Silva is good enough, we should just line Kompany, Nastasic and whoever else on the edge of the 18 yard line, Silva floats it and we attack the ball with Aguero and whoever else just hanging around the six yard line.

We used to do that, we're so powerful but we're not the biggest side ever.

Two stand out goals being Kompany v United and Dzeko v QPR last season were both from inswingers. So it could be easily argued that this is the best way.

Im sure the Prozone/statos department will look at the opposing keeper before every game and see which style best fits.

One thing that has surprised me is that when defending from corners city are not leaving anyone forward. Our attacking players on the posts. (Aguero and Tevez/or Silva) It has produced 8 clean sheets in our last 10 it has to be said.

Kompanys isn't an inswinger.

I could watch this vid all day. Doesn't get much better than neville whining, the close ups and nevilles 2nd half prediction.

I think the standard of corners is poor across the whole of the division. Many a time i find myself shouting expletives at the tv when MOTD is on. Fucking wanker cant even beat first man.
