Got to agree, love Gabby but I think this just fits and makes sense, he’d be a perfect rotational player who would be more in the mould of Merlin than Aguero, however, he’d cause chaos in our system
For me he’d be another Bernie, his close control looks very good and like Bernie once he has the ball it will be difficult to get it off him. I think he would fit this Pep team perfectly. As I’ve said before I think one from Sterling, Gabby and Mahrez is off in the summer maybe two

I’d prefer Haaland, but if Pep prefers Felix, I’m all in.

I trust Baldie implicitly. No questions asked.

Unless it’s Kane.
There’s absolutely no evidence Pep prefers Felix over anybody. @tolmie's hairdoo said he would be presented BY THE AGENT as an alternative in case we can’t sign Haaland

I would also like to point out that Pep wanted to sign the kid in 2019, before he worked with Simeone. Doesn’t mean it’s the same now. Pep admires Simeone a lot (may be shocking to some, I know...) and I’m sure the way Felix has worked (poorly) at Atleti influences his current valuation

you must be well good at football manager
It’s been all over the media that we will be in the market for a striker, Fernandinho replacement and Mendy replacement. I don’t see why it would be beyond possibility that we may decide to cash in while we can on Sterling or like others have suggested swap Gabby for Felix.

I really rate Joao Felix, but my only concern is how much his success would end up being down to suiting a Pep setup so much. After he leaves i'd have my doubts about his continued success. Hope im wrong there! Still would much prefer Haaland too.
Honestly i haven’t seen enough of him, but what i have seen off him he seems highly technical which would suit us but his goal record suggests he can’t lead the line for us and as a number 9 he is simpl6 not strong enough defensively and doesn’t press hard enough. He is however 22 so maybe pep could develop those skills.

I was promised a replacement for Aguero, and frankly I’d be hugely disappointed if that’s deemed to be felix. If Pep wants him fine, pep given me the greatest years ever as a footballing fan and honestly he can have who he wants. I don’t get it, I don’t see our need for him and there seems far more pressing positions needing filled but I trust peo as he knows far more than me.

I still don’t see this one happening, just doesn’t make sense to me, unless he’s a replacement for a attacking forward that we’re expecting to lose this summer (gabby, Mahrez, sterling) but honestly I don’t want to see any of this leave. It sounds like it’ll be a exciting summer anyways….

Haha! Seems like a proper City thing to do in fairness.
Keep us dangling at the prospect of signing a superstar only to bring in somebody a couple of levels down instead.
Not sure that's fair, Felix was a budding superstar too at Benfica and he did help Atletico win the title. Maybe he just needs a coach who believes in him more???
We all luv and want Haaland, but we have no idea how it will pan out if he came and even though Felix isn't a prolific goalscorer, i do think he fits Pep's style of play better.

As you say though, trust the business model!

I would have much preferred Felix to Grealish but we've got to stick with the decision we've made on that front.

I'd love to see what Pep can do with him but we need to move on to a proper goalscorer now because I'm not confident on spreading the goals around the squad in the long term. Certainly not if Pep's not going to be with us in a couple of years.

with how de jong is playing hes definitely getting sold but will city actually go for him is the question

I’m not suggesting Pep does want Felix over Haaland.

I’m saying *if* that’s the case, then no complaints from me.

He didn’t have Pep when he was wowing everyone at Benfica.

Whoever replaces Pep is going to be as close a match as we can get, they’re going to be au fait with false 9s and the like.

Aye, but with all due respect, wowing at Benfica isn't wowing in the Premier League. And with all due respect to whoever replaces Pep, they're not gonna be Pep.

Luis Enrique if avalaible will be good for city after Pep. Same philosopy, winning mentality and strictness that keep Barca fine after Pep left back then.

It will never truly be able to replace Pep but still a good replacement for him.

Yeah he would be my first choice too.
