If he’s cheap great but going out looking for and buying a centre back that isn’t good enough just cheap and happy not to play, which is what you were saying, is a waste of money and a risk.
A higher price tag doesn't guarantee success, especially when he wouldn't be playing week in and week out. He's just a flashy name when someone cheaper (the horror!) would solve multiple issues.

You're not making much sense. You can get a player for 20-40 million. You don't need to spend Gvardiol money AND still have playtime issues with one of your CB's.You don't solve any issues though.
The issue is you need a player. Where they might or might not be in 3 years isn't really an issue.
Interesting if we do sign a top replacement for Ake. I figure the others all knew they were ahead of Ake, might be good to have a bit more motivation.
