If laporte leaves will we be looking for another centre half? Anyone we bring in will have the same fight for game time that laporte currently has, we also have ake who I think will have a much better second season. Is THB good enough to come back as 4th choice?

Rinse and repeat of our current situation if we replace Laporte with Torres.

If the club think Ake is good enough to be our 3rd choice CB, we need someone who is happy to be a backup, not one of the most sort after young CB’s in Europe.

If they don’t think Ake is up to the job, that’s a monumental waste of £40m.

Yes, that's the more logical link, plus there's also Koundé who both Madrid and Barça admire amongst others. Obviously different in quality terms, because Laporte is clearly quite close to a world class centre half, neither Pau or Koundé come close. Lots more experience as well.

Only thing it makes clear is Laporte is clearly not put on market neither is he considered for sale, same as others, it would take a very very good offer for us to consider. Hence why I said he is most likely staying and fighting for his place.

His release clause is €45m and he had a great season with Villareal, won Europa and was excellent in the final vs rags. If someone is bold enough to give us £70-80m for Laporte then I'd take him.

Ah fair enough, I stand corrected then. Doesn't surprise me the rags and a couple other Prem clubs have also scouted him heavily.

I don’t think yours and Newman Noggs positions are too far apart. I can agree that maybe 1 or 2 are unhappy. Laporte losing his place to Stones, maybe Bernardo does want to go back warmer climes. But as Newman Noggs says, I’m not having that 6 or 7 want out.
