Don't think here. We have shown that we get cold feet, when it comes to the big deals. We don't want to be seen as another Paris, or Real Madrid.

No we haven't.
Our manager didn't trust either Ferna or Rodri in our biggest game last season.
If that's the case then we should have addressed this.
We have not replaced Aguero (I know that's impossible) with a high quality replacement that puts fear into teams.
Left back is an issue, but one we have ignored for years.

To ignore one or two of these areas is questionable BUT to ignore all three is poor business practice.

If we'd have lost Bernardo & Laporté, we'd be infinitely worse off this season as I can't think of any available like for like replacements for the same money.

We know what both these players bring to the table, now because we're shorter on options than we could have been, these players will be played to a fuller potential than last season. Now Silva, Laporté, Aké, Torres & Jesus have the ideal opportunity to prove themselves.

We've less options to replace them with, so these five established internationals have got everything to gain, & everything to lose based on their performances. City will be the big winners this being the case, & this season will tell us a lot about several of last seasons fringe players.

Was looking today at Jimmy Greaves who really knew how to finish. Seems he was only 5 ft 8ins tall so perhaps an obsession with tall physical strikers is wrong but for some reason Pep cannot get our front players to be as deadly as he would like.

Didn't know his height but, Greaves is the greatest finisher this country has ever produced.

Wasting £52 million on Mendy has severely hamstrung us in the LB position. You can't invest that much in one player and then go out and buy another similarly priced replacement just because the Mendy signing has proved a disaster for reasons we all know about. Giving Fernandinho an extension signalled no new incoming DM this summer. That left Kane as the striker we wanted but Levy wasn't interested in negotiating.
We have to go with what we have. There is no unlimited pot of money unfortunately.

I can, I’ve seen how much more dynamic our front 3 of Grealish, Torres , Jesus is than last year.

This just makes the failure to bring in a striker more baffling, I'd say.

My concern is a little different to most.

We need to replace

Mendy
Fern
Aguero

But not desperately right now from a squad point of view. We can more than cope and replace them next window.

The problem is that we had a financial advantage this window and the PL or UEFA will not think twice about a transfer ban for some invented misdemeanour.

We don’t need the replacements now, but we are going to, and it was the best time to get them.

It feels like, a buyout aside, we have just watched the window go by.

Of course it is and we still have top quality players, its not like I said we will be nowhere near. How more frightening would our team be with a world class striker in front of them 3, instead of a young kid like Torres and Delap. Like I said in my original post will only know if this window is a poor one come the end of the season.

I'm really disappointed with this window, why we didn't get Messi Ronaldo and Kane I'll never know, Kane was only 160m, plus we should have got Lukaku just in case Kane got injured. I also can't believe we didn't bid for Trent and Shaw can you imagine if our 4 FBs get injured. Oh yes Rodri, Ferna and Gundogan is not enough cover, why not a cheeky bid for Kante, offer 100m they'll never turn that down...we would then have had a reasonable window setting us up for next season where we can really spend...

Never said he didn’t improve us. But considering we lost Mendy even if he is horrible it still give zinch break on cup matches. Aguero left and we didn’t replace him. We are still lacking imo a good replacement for dinho. So to me we are definitely weaker then we were last year. But it’s all a matter of opinion so take it how you wil.
