Jack Grealish

Clubs like Villa need to be realistic, if the next young Jack Grealish is considering a move to say either Villa or Southampton to progress their career a consideration maybe, if the player is good enough in two years time will he be allowed to fulfil his potential by moving to a top club for realistic money. Southampton certainly would, maybe not Villa.
While there is merit to this, Villa is trying to become a club that isn't a stepping stone, they shouldn't be deciding to let players go because they're looking ahead to surviving in the PL. They're being backed by an exciting owner and have a good manager now. As another point, it's entirely possible Jack won't force a a move because he likes Villa's trajectory.

That's a risk he's taking, like Kane took a risk by re-committing to Spurs, but he has time on his existing deal and can stall on this for now.

Not saying we will, but if we do win a clutch of domestic trophies again this season, then that cumulative effect is likely to influence players when deciding where to pursue their careers. Clubs can claim they are on the right trajectory, but there’s no guarantee that will lead to trophies. Wonder if Walker regrets leaving a team that was on the right trajectory?

I remember how elated Walker was when we beat Arsenal to win the EFL Cup - his first trophy. Obviously meant a lot.

And so it should. He has taken pelters from their support for an eternity. That said, he’s 31 in May, but in three seasons he has lifted 8 trophies, with the likelihood of even more to come, and he is also a more accomplished player than when he arrived. Kane turns 28 in July and Grealish 26 in September, so if they want advice on furthering their careers and fulfilling their potential, then they could do worse than telephone Walker.

Or Sterling or Stones with their 7 medals.

Kane must be pig sick of congratulating those 3, time after time after time when they meet up for England.

I must admit, the 'he's going there to win trophies ' really pisses me off. It was the reason given for most of the rags signings for the last 20 years (apart from the last few obv, which is now money).
It just feels like the player wants other players to win trophies for them. Go for the football, or its your club, or to play for the manager. Go for the money ffs!
Anyway, if its in the 'press' it could be any reason - or none of them. Rant over.

True, though those two came to us when they were still comparatively young and had many years ahead of them. Kane may simply be satisfied with the England captaincy and becoming Spurs record scorer, though Jimmy Greaves at least has medals in his cabinet. Perhaps a loop recording of ‘one of our own’ will suffice and a position on MOTD. Not sure what Grealish will accomplish by staying at the Villa.
