James McAtee

With midfielders rumoured to be leaving in the summer, i would like to keep him in the squad next season.
Do you think that would be best for him or would you keep him there on loan and see how he does in the PL?
would love to see him given a chance next season but going of the amount of game time Palmers been given can't see it happening

Interesting to see what happens in the summer, would like to see him given a chance but wouldn't be massively suprised if City Opt to cash in with a buy back either.

with talk of us bringing back lavia after one season away would love to see mcatee and palmer get a good loan to a Premier league side but it's easier said than done

Unfortunately with the new loan rules, its very doubtful if any of our players will end up at a Premier league club.

Needs another loan after this imo, based on all the links to midfielders we have.

If Sheffield get promoted then great, play in the premier league with them.

If not, then needs to be at a higher league level, Doyle too.

Then maybe the season after next, it's time to bring them in, along with Lavia too.

Palmers first 2 seasons isn't too far behind Fodens first 2, it would be better than it is maybe, but that by all accounts is down to him. I wouldn't write him off yet.

As we can only loan 2 players at most within the premier league club, what 2 would benefit most from playing in the Premier league.

think thb will be sold with buy back McAtee looks like he'll be given an opportunity this season going of the above interview. think Doyle should stay at Sheffield another season and possibly palmer if this season hasn't been the kick up the backside he may need then a loan think he could become a regular starter with a lower prem team

"It will be an unusual Mother's Day for Gillian McAtee this year.

She'll be in Brighton to watch oldest son John try to help fourth-tier Grimsby pull off another FA Cup miracle in their quarter-final but, before his game kicks off, she'll also be looking for somewhere to watch her youngest son James in action for Sheffield United in their tie with Blackburn."

John: "I've got two draws in mind if we do do it, and that's Manchester U****d, who I support, or obviously Sheffield United."

Hope Grimsby lose.

Didn't know they are both related to Alan Ball. Their great-uncle... less said about that City link.

Just read that about ball, kept that quiet (:

Good interview with him and his brother John here. Sounds like he’s in Pep’s plans for next season.

I for one am really happy if that's the case. I really rate the kid and I totally understand why he went on loan.

Also sometimes as a young kid, you need a slap in the face to realize things are a bit different from what you perceive. That slap has made him into the player he is now and maybe Pep will actually trust him now vs not trusting "just another academy lad".

A bit like Zinny!. Let's hope a similar scenario plays out here!

Palmer was in Pep's plan for this season

I hope Mcatee & Doyle will continue their loan at the same club next season, they will benefit from playing every week in the PL hopefully and then they can be 100% ready for City.

As we saw yesterday, the top of the championship is a long way from the top of the Prem.

However, McAtee has the ability to play with better players and be useful to Pep. He'll still need to keep developing the physical side of his game though - in terms of strength and stamina.
