James McAtee

Really feel this and Doyle’s threads should be moved to the Player Performance forum, as they are City players (on loan) and are no longer part of the Academy (and unlikely ever to be again).
 
Does make you think about the selection criteria for the England youth sides. Of course it maybe bias on my part, but our teams are some of the best in the country (fact) at all levels (foreign players accepted) but you can't play our players exclusively for a number of reasons (and there are some exceptional players at other clubs). It's just that whilst we don't know if James will 'make it ' yet, at this level, it's crazy not to start him.

They were both friendlies so perhaps it's a case of they know what to expect from McAtee and Tommy Doyle, so try others in their place. It's not all about playing your best 11 at this level, especially for friendlies.

Edit: I didn't watch either and have no clue who did play.

Not sure I agree with that. Skipp has benn really good for spurs the last two months. I don’t think it’s too controversial to pick him as a starter

Jones shouldn’t be in the conversation. He barely plays

Did well to get on the end of a lucky deflection,and managed to poke it home.

Other than that a fairly quiet game though.

Bags of ability,he just needs a bit more zip and vigor to his performances......needs to take control and grab a game by the bollocks more.
 
I tried watching the game... gave up after 30 minutes.

Piss poor quality by all sides, been ruined I think watching City play.
 
Be good for the lad to have another season with Sheffield especially in premier league because he is good enough for me to play in our team in 18 months..
 
imo deserves a chance back, he seems to have put on some muscle too which is great

Everything about that oozes class. Firstly, when he simply skips between two defenders and emerges cleanly with the ball in full control at his feet. But look how early he's looking across to see what his team-mate's doing. He seems to be sending him the message, “Make the run, mate, because it'll be a wasted cross if I let it go too early”. There's two Blades players against four blue shirts, + the keeper. An outrageous goal. Such control, such vision.
A place must be found for this lad in the squad. They can let everyone else go, if the price is right. Even maybe Tommy. Not this one.
