Jarrad Branthwaite

Is he better than Akanji? As in does he put in a proper effort to get back if there's a break and cab he produce something positive in midfield.

Akanji does my head in. Used to like him at the start and he seems a lovely lad but this year he has been atrocious at times.

We need better.

Watched this lad a few times for Everton and he's looked bang average every time. The Stones comparisons are because he's a CB and plays for Everton.

Yep. I’ve seen him many times.

He is very overrated who is just an ok/good player. Was hoping the Rags would do what they do a spunk 70m on him or something.

Hes a Spurs player at best.

But they didn’t really cover four positions though, did they?

RB was either Nunes or Lewis for most of the season, neither of whom are included in the nine - and Gvardiol was rotating with O’Reilly at LB towards the end, who isn’t either.

So let’s say one of our nine CB’s will be covering LB - that still leaves eight for two positions.

In my view, it would need to be someone genuinely exceptional to warrant us adding to that group when we’ve got priorities elsewhere.

And Branthwaite simply doesn’t fall into that category for me.

Add to that I’m really not convinced another CB who’s missed a lot of games through injury is what we need.
Most of that is right, we used 3 midfielders in the fullback positions, we have 3 CB`s under performing that spent most of the season out injured, we bought 3 CB in January all right footed and inexperienced, so next season we hope to play 60 plus games with 2 fit and experienced CB`s.
Bringing in Branthwaite sends a message to our failing CB`s that game time is going to be limited, so there is more chance of one moving on, it also gives time for the youngsters to grow.
Understand you see priorities else where, but last season every team targeted our left side of defense, our biggest failing, and most were proved right, to the point that most will continue.

You have a very odd view of maths.

You said 30 year gap implying they are 30 years older than of example Bah

Your now saying there age adds up to 90 over years older but whoever comes in is only replacing one of them
Sorry i thought it was obvious that a 30 odd year old was not 30 years older than a 21 year old, but that is not the point, the point is the gap between 6 CB`s

Which bit is wrong, that he is full of mistakes, or a 23 year old was second choice to a 34 year old who expected to leave this summer.
Both but mainly the 2nd part, he started ahead of Tripper in almost every game before he was needed at LB

Each to his own, Evertons player of the season, who`s return to the team coincided with their good form, that unlike our defenders can use both feet well.

He is one of the worst passers in the CB position in the top 5 leagues.

For a CB 82% is horrendous for pass%, now that MAY be okay if his progressive passing was high, but he ranks in the 23rd percentile, so he sucks there as well.

Dog shit Pep signing, we should be no where near this.

And Everton bring the ball out of the back, so if you are saying he can not adapt at the age of 23 fair enough, otherwise your post is shite.

Not sure what games you have watched but as an Everton fan I can guarantee that he is a far superior defender than Stones was when he left us for you and at the same age.

He is 2 footed, reads the game brilliantly, is excellent in the air and has pace. The timing of his challenges is quite good too. For those wondering about his passing, yes he can pass the ball very well but under Dyche, was forced to go long all the time. When he broke through it was his ability on the ball that stood out.

Thank you. Some on here won’t have it, but an excellent player, don’t think you were the same side without him.

Decent enough player but not one we need IMO and not a position that we are short in. Can't see any mileage in this.
