The best thing about his performance today was how he'd just instinctively drop into centre back when Vinny went forward.

Almost word for word what I was going to post when logging on this morning, he is the most improved player this season as we already knew Samir was a quality player. Lescott also was solid yesterday and he is worth keeping it would be a pity to see him do a Barry at another team.

I'd made my mind up about Garcia, I didn't think he had a performance like that in him. Really hope he can kick on now and do that more consistently. What really surprised me was his willingness to pass the ball forward quickly, like Fernandinho does.

Who would have thought it, this thread started off about how poor he was and now glowing tributes!

Considering he was out for a few weeks did an excellent job for full 90+ minutes, very important player now in out squad, I for one say well done Javi.

Fantastic yesterday, hope we see that kind of display more often,he dominated Chelskis midfield.

I remember him playing well at Arsenal and Newcastle last season, and down at Stamford Bridge this season, but last night he was a level above any of those performances. When he's not in a midfield quartet where he can be exposed for pace or pressed into giving the ball away, turns out he can play football after all. Liked the way he bought us some cheap free kicks, Gaz Baz style, as well!

Best performance in a city shirt last night. Hoped he was going to get Man of the Match.

Agree. Great team performance from 1-11 (or 30-42 if you prefer), but Javi was fantastic.
