I think he is a great player going forward, so quick, always beats his man, but he ain't a right back.

He was with City in the junior ranks for 9 years before he left in 2019 so he knows the club well.

Frimpong is open to a move ‘if Liverpool want a right back’
Wonder why it’s not moving quicker
It’s as if no one is really 100% on the deal

He is a wingback that’s why. In the national team he excels as a RW and for Leverkusen as a wingback. Liverpool doesn’t play with one . Beside Inter no top team plays with wingbacks so it makes sense that he‘s very good but not compatible to most teams . Even worse than Trent on defense
 
Whether he's a right back or a wing back is irrelevant isn't it? He's definitely an upgrade on Nunes

while frimpong is a quality player, liverpool are going to have to revert to a 3 at the back to accommodate him because in konate has to come out to the right to cover for him then that defence will be left will be left very exposed.
 
Unless we go to a back 5, he is too incredibly unsuited imo, Nunes clears him easily.

While some may say with our high possession our players don't need to defend as much, Nunes still atleast has to do SOME defending, while Frimpong barely does anything.

Then look at the passing stats, attempted, completed % and progressive passes.

Frimpong has basically no responsibility in the build up, his only passing is done in the final 3rd hence why his % is so low and why he has no progressive passes.

Nunes meanwhile obviously shows high usefulness as a buildup fullback, with many attempted, high %, and lots of progressive passes.

Meanwhile creatively, Nunes still beats Frimpong, 0.28xAG vs 0.19 xAG (keep in mind Nunes did play a bit as a winger so this is skewed a bit for him, but it also skews against him defensively as well so it still favours him), while SCA is about the same. Frimpong even takes more shots than Nunes!

So yeah, Frimpomg is not a fullback in any sense of the word, he is a winger who gets on the end of things.

We really need a fullback more akin to Nunes tbh.

They need a left back too with Robertson turning shit so maybe they are going to 3 at the back with wing backs
