They showed it after the game joe shouts something like keepers ball, but by that time nastastic was moving towards heading the ball....

Thanks for that mate!
I watched it in the pub and really didn't know who called (if anyone).
Regardless, Joe looks at fault as Nastasic has little option but to head it!

He needs time on the bench! Would do him good and reaffirm he's not guaranteed a start!
That may be half the problem!
We've seen this before with another keeper called Joe!
Turned out to be one of our best! .....and those calling him a **** need to remember the times he's got us out of the shit and not be so bloody disrespectful to a City player!
I doubt you'd call him that to his face!
The right thing to do now is put Pants between the sticks!
There's been a noticeable dip but Joe is still young as keepers go and he'll learn and improve his decision making! I certainly wouldn't be getting rid at this point!
Yes!, he's dropped a very noticeable bollock but so did Torres an hour before he became a Chelsea hero!

Good post. He's made a mistake but some of the venom on here is disgraceful

A bit like the venom he showed towards our last manager in leading the revolt.
Said it before and I will say it again, average keeper at best who this season has cost us many vital points already. Will the manager have the balls to drop him??I doubt it.

This is a really hard position to be in for Pellegrini, droping Hart can have two outcomes. first is he realises he´s s**t and improves and comes back stronger and better than ever or he completely loses he´s confidence and well get even worse. and of course the constant pressure from media ain´t helping. but i have a feeling Pells will stick with Hart for the ppl games. whether it´s the right choice or not remains to be seen.

Mouriniho had no problem dropping sideshow Bob because of his recent Gaff - If Mouriniho was the manager Hart would not be playing simple as that

Hart needs to be dropped

Hart has made a few mistakes and yes has cost us points but at the end of the day we cant blame results on a keeper, comunication and the lack of a leader are just a few things we are short of right now, people forget that hart made a point blank save v Moscow to save the 3 points, everyone just settle down and see how things unfold, he is a top notch goalie and he will come out strong, he just needs our backing, not people slating him on a forum.
rant over
onto newcastle in the cup
You CAN blame results on a keeper AND Communication AND the lack of a leader, they are not mutually exclusive items. He is not a top notch keeper, he was once a reliable keeper whose form has declined in the last eighteen months.

Leaving him in the team will not do him any good at all as the media will highlight every piece of play he is involved in..

He needs an arm around the shoulder and told that he is going to be left out for a while..

Any player worth his salt will work hard, improve there game and look to win his place back.

If he starts moaning and thinks about a move then he is not worth keeping.

Results matter at the end of the day and when we are trying to correct our away form its going to be a lot harder with inconsistent performers like Hart. Maybe we should just play him for home games and Panti for aways? (I'm trying to be devils advocate here)
He may get some confidence back that way and we can give Pantilimon some valuable premier league experience. Just a thought.

Just another small point - everyone seems to be forgetting the bollock he dropped in Moscow for their goal (probably because he managed to stick his leg out in the last minute and deflect Honda's shot away!). Once again, a rush of blood to the head when he should have taken a second or two longer to assses that the CSKA player had Zaba on his case and he wouldn't have had an obvious goalscoring opportunity. Rushing out (again) like he did, made it piss simple for the Russian guy to lob him, which he duly did!

Joe definitely needs a rest - play Pantilimon on Wednesday (obviously) and if he makes no glaring mistakes, keep him in the nets for Norwich and (Plezen too if he is still error-free!)

I think the media pressure on England's #1 is largely the problem here. Jo's confidence is shaken. Goalkeeper position very different to all others as well - so don't really agree with 'look at Mourinho and Sideshow Bob'.

He is either strong enough mentally to be the best, or he isn't. Not something a manager can work on I think. So if benched and lets go, not someone we want for #1. hopefully he is strong and will come back. But then Panteleimon is quite good and if he doesn't get a chance now, when will he? The competition might do Jo good. Again if he's too weak mentally to cope with the challenge, it will surface again in the future after bad performances.

Panteleimon will start against Newcastle, but if he does well might be worth starting against Norwich too...

how was it his fault!

Joe came out to head the ball away, something he has done countless times. Nastasic should have seen it but instead headed it over hart

Because Joe can see what is happening in front of hime and should realise there is no real danger or need for him to come running out.

Nastacic is watching the flight of the ball so can't see that hart has f*cked up

Strange how every keeper asked about Joe rate him as the best in the league. What would help him is a settled defensive partnership in front of him. At the moment he hasn't a clue what might happen in front of him. Look at the number of stupid fouls given away in dangerous areas. Building from the back has been a key to success and stability since the year dot. We play anybody there at present (Garcia), what confidence can be taken from that?

It was 100% Hart’s fault, no question. Nastasic is dealing with the situation perfectly comfortably and easily heads the ball back to Joe if he stays put. There’s absolutely no reason for him to be 5 yards out of his box trying to clear a ball that his centre half is dealing with. The only explanation I can come up with is that because of all the pressure he’s been under recently and after effectively saving the day in Moscow, he wanted to feel like he was directly helping again and saw a possibility to come out, clear the ball and get praise for putting the game to bed, bad decision.

This is the key for me; decision making. As a team that dominates possession in most games and restricts the opponents to few shots on goal, we don’t need a great shot-stopper, which is what Hart is, we need a reliable keeper who doesn’t make howlers, can organise his defence, command his area and, if we’re to continue with the high line, sweep up well. The latter in particular relies on excellent decision making, when to come and when to stay. Hart has shown that he’s not the best at this; Chelsea and Villa this season but even going back to our title winning season he came rushing out against Spurs at home and Defoe beat him to the ball for an easy tap in.

Pantillimon will start on Wednesday and if he does well I’d leave him in for Norwich. Hart needs a bit of time out of the spotlight. I’d like to see us go for Casillas in January, ideally on an 18 month or 2 and a half year deal, but even if it’s just on loan for 6 months it’d be a good move. Hart can then be his understudy, play in the league and FA Cup and maybe some Premier league games but most importantly, spend time learning from one of the best keepers to ever play the game. He’s only 26, still young for a keeper, so talk of getting rid is ridiculous, I just think he needs a bit of time to work on things and he won’t get that if he’s playing every week with the media scrutinising his every move.

I listened to an interview with David platt on talksport and he was saying if Mancini didn't get sacked they would have brought in begovic in the summer from stoke. Would have been a good shout. Joe hart had a shit season last season and carrying it on this season.

I expect Pantillimon to be one of 10 changes for Wednesday's game and if he does well should stay in for Norwich.

However, did anyone else notice him letting in an awful shot through his fingers in the warm up before yesterday's match? Certainly didn't fill me with confidence.

The transfer window can't come soon enough, although I don't feel Casillas in the answer. At only 6"1' he's far too short and the same height as Shay Given and we all know he was susceptible to crosses.

Get Begovic in. Send Hart out on loan so he can get his confidence back and not at City's expense.

I don't think yesterday can be blamed on a lack of confidence, if anything it was over-confidence that led to him rushing out. After the save at the end of the Moscow game his confidence will have been sky high.

Poor decision making is the problem. Begovic is an excellent keeper for a team like Stoke who face plenty of attempts on their goal. We need an experienced keeper who's used to not having a lot to do each game but being ready on the odd ocassion he is called upon. Casillas' experience makes him a prime candidate not just for our no.1 shirt, but for Hart's mentor too.

We need someone who will send a statement, has an aura about and a commanding presence that demands respect.

Begovic whilst good has no experience of elite end of football and has made quite a few mistakes this season himself when I've watched him.

I think the defence would respond well to having someone like Casillas behind them.

Hart needs to dump the Bentley, give up the fashion Shows, think twice about doing hair adverts and focus on being the top sportsman he is being paid to be and should want to be. All the top sportsman have a laser type focus, I think things/focus are/is getting a little diluted with his outside interests.
I am not sure that Pantilimon is the answer, but maybe he should be given the chance?

he hasn't been anywhere near the form of our title winning season and since that time his form has been declining. For me pants is not rated anywhere near high enough to be considered as a replacement for Joe - so we need to sort this position in January asap along with a new LB

PS - lets get rid of Garcia as well because he should no longer be near the first team. I would rather we put an EDS lad in instead

Having been a match-going supporter for over 50 years I came to the conclusion a long time ago that players & managers come & go so the only thing that really matters is the club. I view everything through the prism of Manchester City FC and in my opinion Hart is no longer an asset and hence should be dropped.

If he cannot fight his way back to being first choice he should be sold.

we should end this thread here supreme logic and the wisest and most effective solution loyalty is valuable but its gots limits the club must come first the many not the one
