I've just been having a browse on cfc.nob, I can't get on shed end, I'm banned. Did we bury our heads in the sand as much as the Chelsea fans are doing now when they came in for SWP ?
It's almost painful to watch.

I have to say, I have never met a bunch of fans that are so unwilling to face the facts.

But to be fair, what facts do we have regarding the whole Terry situation? It's purely newspaper speculation and silence which can't always be relied on.
In your heart of hearts, what do you think JT will do? stay or go?

Right, now I feel he will go, but that changes all the time as we are getting different signals from different sources. Even the newspaper reports are pretty conflicting.

However, I feel if we get a good sum for him, it could actually benefit Chelsea. £40-50 Million and Abramovic's rage will mean a lot of money will be spent on special players that will make us serious contenders to get some serious silverware.

it's a good point about how it could be beneficial for Chelsea. if he does move then it may imply that the club was posturing for the benefit of the fans (and to get a larger bid).

also if Abramovich is drawn into a wallet-measuring contest with the Sheikhs he will lose (the sheikhs are at least a power of ten more wealthy) but it would result in some new signings for chelsea.

this could actually work out win-win for both clubs, although it could be hard on Abramovich's personal finances.

fair play to Chelsea fans who are here for the right reasons, and i for one don't mind putting up with them and it's itneresting to hear what the (even the one with the wummy username as long as he accepts that his username is wummy and he's bound to take some stick from users who see it for teh first time).

Independent says City are offering £280k a week

Guardian says its only £160k

one (or both) are way off

which is it ? £280 k seems crazy

links to both articles here http://www.footballnewshq.com/

i'd bet that his actual salary is in the 160k range, but that the 280k isn't pure fantasy either. various commercial rights--mr Cook's specialty--factor into it, and Terry is one of the few center halves who is a 'hot' commercial property (he's in Pepsi commercials all over the world for example). Umbro will be a huge part of the financial side of the equation, i'd bet on that, and City's partnering with Umbro is what makes it so Chelsea can't compete financially with City's package on offer.

bottom line is if he moves to City he'll make astronomical money without being offered absurd wages.

Will i get banned for saying this!!i really hope not but surely Hughes knows Terry is a cnut and past his best and wheres the business sense in giving one of our future rivals £40+million. to invest far more wiselyIf he signs its a very sad day in my eyes.
sorry but when it comes to Terry and/or Lampard i just cant be reasonable with my opinions

Obviously. That kind of negates your post, don't you think?

Signing Terry will seriously shake football. We have to try to do it.

You don't squeeze your best midfielder (Ireland) out onto the left wing, especially when the guy inside him is left-footed. I can foresee SWP's game time being limited this season, with us opting to play 3 up top with NDJ, Barry and Ireland in the middle. SWP's more likely to get game time as one of the top 3 rather than one of the middle 3 imo. Having said that, though, we're building a decent squad so I would expect everyone to get a game at some point. There won't be a nailed-on starting XI for every game.

Know Barry is left footed, but he is not lightning and certainly not cut to be on the wing...I see him a cross between a central midfielder and defensive midfielder. Hence the reason for Superman ON THE WING!

fook me there are some clueless people when it comes to picking a side.

IF we get Tevez, Terry, Lescott and Adebayor then this would be the opening line up imo....

..............................Given...........................

Micah/Zab.........Terry.......Lescott.........Bridge

......................De Jong......Barry..................

.........Tevez...........Superman........Robbie......

............................Adebayor.......................

subs from.... Taylor, Vince, Boj, RSC, SWP, Ned, Petrov, Bellamy

Classic. Says the bloke who leaves out our second best player last year.

Kompany must start. Whether thats at CB pushing Lescott to LB, or in place of De Jong. As much as I like Nige, Kompany is a class above him.

Id go with that line up, could be a toss up between De Jong and Kompany but its just about spot on!

I see this thread has gone into overdrive...

If Terry goes to the States its game over. If he doesnt he's ours.

So Thursday is D Day..

I still think we need another midfielder who can play attacking and defending because if Ireland - Barry get injured then we are screwed because has anyone seen Michael Johnson recently? Pablo Zabaleta and Vincent Kompany are not good enough for attacking and defending and there wasn't one sub which could play Central midfield and do a good job.

I'm trying to forget the three at the back with Robinho has a wing back team I just saw...

I believe we will start against Blackburn like:

Given
Richards Onouha Kompany Bridge
De Jong Barry
SWP Ireland Robinho
RSC

So yes, that is to say I can't imagine us buying any one else!

We have someone who could replace Ireland should he get injured his name is Elano however I cant see Elano being happy with playing once in a bluemoon and think he will be on his way before the end of August. I think either Zab or Kompany/De Jong would cover Barry should he get injured!

i think you will see a hell of a lot of people agreeing with my side, i rate Vince highly but don't think Hughes paid 18mil for De Jong to stick him on the bench.

my "clueless" comment was more based at people playing 3 at the back and Superman on the wing etc.

Kompany can drop into midfield,Tevez & Robinho more forward for a classic 4-3-3 or 4-4-2

Hughes said two players for each position!

God its great playing fantasy football!!!!
