Keir Starmer

Starmer seems the best of the bunch from what little I've seen so far, speaks common sense and seems electible.
What are the major platform points/stated positions that make you feel this way? (Not a trap or anything, just trying to learn more about this global unknown)

I've seen some of the other candidates saying they agree with Corbyn's policies in principle or that he was on the right track (prompted by media questions) - I don't have an issue with Corbyn per se but I do think Labour need a clean break from him. Any candidate that the media can paint as a Corbynista will be latched upon and the Tory's will use that too.

A lot of the other candidates are still wishy-washy over Brexit.

I've seen little so far as there's only a few interviews of each candidate on YouTube; but he's been backed by Unison, he is clear on Brexit - 'we are leaving, that discussion needs to be put to bed' and he's strong on the message that Labour has lost the trust of it's core base (it has), if other candidates can't accept that Corbyn lost this trust - how can they go about winning back those votes?

I'm hoping whoever wins can unify the party.

None of the candidates have a public manifesto or anything at this stage - people can look at past performance in public office but seeing as most of them tow the party line that's not super effective.

Sounds a bit similar to the Demnom process at present. Once a candidate has been elected, their real positions, and how they’re going to try to beat Trump will emerge.

Starmer just doesn’t inspire and he’s apart of the metropolitan, London centric, remain, coffee shop dwelling elite - that the Labour heartland voters despise.

I’m not saying I agree with them, for a long period he was my great hope to remain in the EU, as I still wish to do, but he’s going to put off the same people who switched to Tory to get Brexit done, not because of Brexit but for what he generally is.
