Keir Starmer

I'll help you out.

The problem with the Labour Party is the Labour Party.
I’m not really sure what you’re getting at?

Labour won 3 landslides in a row on a moderate, centre ground, pro European position.

They’ve just lost 4 in a row on a hard left, 1970s Student Union socialist ticket.

They’ve now just elected their most centre ground leader since the last one who won 3 in a row. Seems like a step in the right direction for me.

You’re right they need the heartlands back.

But they also need middle England back if they want to win an election, and I think if they go anti-FOM against the anti-FOM Tories they’ve got no chance.

Since losing Scotland I think they need both. I don’t think middle England is as desperate for FOM as the right in the working class is to end it.

That’s possibly true, but it’s about articulating the message better.

A lot of the anti-immigrant rhetoric coming out of northern working class towns was an anti-Muslim sentiment.

Unfortunately, Cummings, Ferage etc exploited that and somehow tried to turn that in to an EU issue, which was just about the most disgraceful thing that’s happened in modern British political history.

Of course northern working class concerns about immigration needs to be listened to. But I also thing building bridges between them and Muslim communities and articulating the message that it’s not an EU issue will go a long way to solving those issues.

Spot on.

I’m pleased.

I remember starting a thread about him years ago saying he looked like a good political leader.

seems a nice bloke, clever and clued up - labour has to move more to the centre and he seems the right fit.

I will miss Corbyn a lot for how much he fighted for left wing issues, especially the NHS.

Very well said.

Does that mean some of the Momentum Labour loons are fucking off to Galloway?

Good.

Yeah but we get gobshites like frances barber back and wes streeting wetting himself.

Also a few thousand threw their toys out and left when corbyn was elected first time and when Ed beat Dave, happens every leadership election.

Sorts the wheat from the chaffe, the proper labour bods stay throughout, anyone who left before are as bad as those leaving now, splitters the lot

The hard left need reminding of this.

While I wholeheartedly agree with you, you've got to accept that the hard left like to airbrush the past.
They would rather gain "positions' in the Party than see the Party win elections. .
Now that Corbyn has finally gone,.SKS needs to get a grip of the situation: Party or Momentum.
Take your pick, but you cannot have both.

Alan Johnson tucking into the defeated Labour cult with relish on Skynews just now. Directing attention to Momentum's icy threats towards Starmer yesterday and pointing out that calls for leadership and unity are rather hollow given the controlling faction since 2015. No green shoots from their grass roots - just class war intensified.

lol - proper labour bods? Splitting and purifying is the whole plan of the ruling cult since 2015 - "Deselections Are 'Us" - hopefully those old Labour rejoiners like myself will encourage Starmer to return them to the exclusive Socialist Valhallas from whence they came.

Sorry, can't stop, I'm chatting about existentialism with a bag of carrots.
You busy elsewhere? The current Momentum landing page must appeal
