But Brexit will be done by 2024 and, if it’s been a huge success and the country is booming, it won’t matter who’s in charge of the Labour Party. If, on the other hand, it’s not as great as widely expected, they will need a leader who is as far away from being Jeremy Corbyn as they can find. Whilst Starmer wouldn’t be my first choice, he’s certainly not going to be confused with JC...

It will be done and it’s why I referred to it being done in my first post on Starmer. However he’s the quintessential centrist London remainer and the heartland leaves really dislike that sort of politician, even more than a socialist.

So, they don’t want Corbyn, they don’t want Starmer (Blair), they want Boris Johnson? That can’t be right.

They want the equivalent of the SDP party now, blue Labour if you want to align it to a movement in the current Labour Party.

Economically left of centre, not socialist but left enough and socially conservative. The working classes have always wanted that.

Labour is currently too far left and too liberal socially.

The social democrats in their current form represent these areas’ views but due to the party machines with the big two and the lack of funding and advertising, they’ll never get off the ground.

For the time being Boris will do for them and Starmer isn’t the answer, to them he represents globalisation and Brexit was the last grasp rejection of globalisation by the British public.
